Two part question.1. I have a 1997 transmission that came with my S14 and I have an older, maybe 1991 transmission from an S13 that I was using for a temporary replacement. Both are 5-speeds. Anyway, the throw out (release) bearing for each, gets pressed onto a bearing sleeve (release sleeve). I have two, each has a different height (maybe a 1/4" difference). The taller of the two appears to have been cast differntly and has a seam for each half. The shorter one has no casting seems. Which one should I be using in the S14 as I see a potential issue with clutch release.

2. I was taking apart the S14 transmission for a rebuild and carelessly let the sychro inserts fall out. There are three types, one set of 3 are like springs, another set are solid little metal guys with a groove cut into the bottom from end to end and the third set of 3 are solid metal guys with a groove cut into the bottom that stops short of the ends. Who knows where each set goes? I can tell where the spring one's go by the picture, but the solid types look very similar except one is about 1/2 mm longer that the other and the bottom grooves are slightly different so where do those go?

I know, they're tough questions... Anyone ever take a picture of their bearing/ release sleeve? A picture and a year might help.

Well, I was working on a transmission write up and luckily my photos are good enought to figure out the synchro inserts question. I still need help with the correct height of the throw out bearing sleeve for S13 and S14. I did think to look at clutch write ups and see their pictures hoping they specify which model their working on... Anybody know from experience?
