I am wondering if we can install an Onstar like feature on Rogue.

Lojack does not provide the feature where you can disable the vehicle so that the thief can not drive it.
This is what I am looking for
1. Vehicle Engine Disabling feature
2. Crash Reporting and GPS Location tracking
3. Stolen Vehicle Recovery.
Any ideas?

I think that is a pretty tall order. The kicker here is that you not only need to install the hardware to make this possible, but you need to have a communications system and a 24/7 monitoring center subscription for the crash reporting and dispatch of emergency help and stolen vehicle tracking and recovery. A GPS system is only effective in this capacity if it has a communication system on board to communicate it's positional information back to a monitoring center, so you're talking about GPS and communications and integration with the vehicles electronics to disable the engine if it's stolen, etc. - very complex and expensive.

General Motors has undoubtedly spent a huge chunk of cash setting all of this up and integrating it in with their vehicles from the factory, and probably hasn't really recouped that investment yet, although it's tough to say becuase it's designed to make a purchase look more appealing and sell more cars - who knows how many fewer cars they would've sold had they not had the OnStar system in place. And remember that even GM vehicles with OnStar don't enjoy the functionality unless they pay a monthly fee after the initial free trial expires. So I'd guess that a lot of OnStar installations are wasted because people get tired of paying the monthly fees or just never chose to activate it at all.

I'd recommend doing a little research, start with the internet and then make some calls to vehicle accessory/stereo shops and see if they have any ideas. I'd say that if there is an aftermarket system out there it won't be cheap. Let us know what you find out please!

Also, regarding engine disabling, does this really need to be included in the "OnStar" package since the Rogue already has an engine imobilizer system. There is no way a thief can "hot wire" and steal your car unless he has the key which has a transponder chip - without the transponder's unique identity specific to your vehicle the engine will not start.

Thank you for inputs. I have tried to search for these features but didn't find any. I was hoping a company would come up with these features and compete with Onstar but not catering or limiting to just one manufacturer.

I will still prefer car engine disabling over immobilizer based upon car key, specially after reading this news article.

hmmm... While what you say is 100% true I think there are some added advantages to the immobilizing functions OnStar provides. When I think of OnStar in regards to engine disabling and immobilizing I think more of OnStars ability to shut down a vehicle that is already underway rather than in a hot wiring situation. Granted Nissans transponder chip is a great theft deterrent, but in the case of a car jacking where a thug pulls you from your car or forces you out at gun point, you car is already running so there is no need to hotwire your car, nor do they necessarily need your key... they can just drive away. However once you report your car as stolen, OnStar can do one of two things.

1) They can send a signal (Ignition Block) that will prevent the car from starting again, after it has been been shut off.

and or...

2) If the car is still moving down the highway, once the authorities are notified the vehicle is stolen, OnStar can do a controlled shutdown which gradually slows the vehicle down so the thief doesn't loose the ability to control eventually brings it to a stop. (As explained in this youtube video clip)

First, in the situation above, leavin the key in the car is a no-no.

Anyways,

I found this interesting item online. With today's cellphones, being able to disable your vehicle should be feasible. Maybe it's out there already, but I am not really versed in this technology. It has no On-star like operator but most people have cellphones in their everyday life. What I find interesting is the ability to disable your vehicle by text message! And it texts you when you car is stolen.

Here is a small list of what it can do for you and your vehicle:
-Track on Demand - Replies with a TXT message of current latitude, longitude, speed, and time, as well as an Internet map link to your cellphone to show you exactly where the GPS tracker/your vehicle is.
-Geo-fencing control - When the vehicle moves in/out the preset scope, it will send an SMS alarm to the authorized phone numbers.
-Movement and Speed Alert: The tracker can warn you with SMS message when the vehicle starts to move from a stationary status, or when the vehicle is moving faster than a preset speed.
-Stop the Engine: You can send an SMS message to the tracker to cut off the gas and battery power, so the engine will remain in an immobilized stated until your remove the alarm status.
-GPRS: With a GPRS enabled SIM card, you can monitor real-time movement of your vehicle with the supplied software on your computer.

Or you could try this:
