ok i have a s13 sr20det in a 91 hatch i have no spark to 3 of my cylinders i have fire on #1

buttt.... for the other three nothing i checked the coil packs and they are good im just not getting juice to the coil packs all the wires look good i did a currency test the wires are good all the way to the ecu so this leads me to the problem Is my ecu bad??? and if so how can i check this

i have been doing this swap and its taking longer that i expected im sure you know the feeling so guys please HELP

possibly ignitor chip,most likely not though.you can test it buy just tossing in another ecu.Or have somone crank while you check ignition pulse to the ignitor connector before the chip.

agreed, You are going to want to do a continuity check on your ignitor as speced in the FSM.

Also, what number is your ecu? that firing on one problem happens often when mixing typex equipment (ecu/harness) with standard equipment.

Using J4 or other late model S13 SR ECU's will cause the engine to fire on the first cylinder only if you use an earlier model S13 SR harness.

w do i find out which harness i have and which ecu i need to correctly work with the harness

Compare the wire colors to this ECU pinout. If they match the list on the right you need a 62, 63, E5 or E6 ECU. If they match the wire colors on the left you need a J4 ECU.

Rather than wasting a bunch of time looking at all the wires look at the coilapack wires in particular. They are one of the only main differences between the ECU's.

For instance notice how the first cylinder wire matches on both lists but does not match the other coilpacks. This is why crossing ECU's and harness's can lead to only coilpack #1 firing.
