We've had our 2011 FWD SV since June. Started about and average of 22 MPG but has gone down since. The last few tanks have been in the 18.2-18.8 MPG range per the pump and mileage calcuation. Putting in 87 octane. Usually 30-50% HWY with the remiander being city. Already had our first oil change and now at about 3,900 miles. Is this worth taking it in?

Welcome to Nicoclub ! !

Before we go to any conclusions we gotta understand how you drive and where you drive.
Are you hard on the gas? Is there a lot of hills where you live? How cold does it get over there?
I have a 11' awd sv Rogue and I get around 23MPG 40% HWY Plus I'm a teenage driver.
Also tell me what happens with the RPM when you drive.

I do about 20% of the driving in it and I am very easy on the gas and coast into stop signs. My wife tends to be a little heavy on the gas and brakes. The only hill we have is the overpass to get to the other side of the freeway. We live in a very flat area of Texas. Right now we're in the 80's but were in the high 90's. My wife does have the A/C set to auto at 75. The RPMs are usually around 1k when driving locally and around 2k on the freeway.

I wouldn't worry about it. If another person is driving with a heavier foot, then you. It's understandable. I too like to coast to a stop sign and light footed to try to save gas.

I did try to go through the full range of rpm's while breaking in the Rogue.

With that in mind, I learned here from others that it take 10,000-15,000 until it really gets the better mpg's.

Whenever I have spirited driving, I can get 20 mpg average on the trip computer in the city. With a light foot, I get 21-22 mpg.

On the highway on long trips, it would be as high as 33-34 mpg and settle to around 26.5 mpg after a 6-7 hr trip. This is on the trip computer with it reset in the beginning.

That's not too bad. I get about 13-15 MPG and I'm in the foothills of North Carolina. I drive 3.5 miles each way to work and that does me no good on my avg MPG. When I was in the Chicago Suburbs, driving 32mi. each way to/from work, I would get about 26-27 MPG on average and I would always get a minimum of 320 Mi./tank. Now, I'm lucky to get between 200-230 miles per tank of gas. It sucks, even at $3.38/gallon as of today.

jas1999, again welcome to the NICO club Rogue forum!

You've got some good discussion points here, mileage will change over time as the engine breaks in by perhaps 1 or 2 mpg max based on anecdotal evidence from this forum over the years. Mileage will also change over time in the early stages of ownership as the computer is in "learn" mode, after learning your driving style it will tune the engine and transmission to accomodate, i.e. aggressive vs. efficient/conservative.

Personally I did not notice a big change in mileage after the first 2000 miles or so, but there is a bit of diversity between owners on this point.

My opinion is, when your car is under warranty don't hesitate to mention everything to your dealer even if you aren't completely sure if it is a problem. I have found that Nissan is excellent at finding and correcting issues under warranty. The service shop should be eager to work with you as they get paid to do warranty work. IF they can't find any issues at least you have peace of mind that your car is running properly and there are no issues. Let us know how things go please!
