one timing mark short on timing chain

hi guys. just wondering why my brothers timing chain has only one silver mark rather than 2 in the fsm? i have an s14 fsm. would this matter? also we used the mark on the exhaust cam side and the tdc is on the dot. will this be okay? thanks for the help.

was that the chain that was in the motor? my factory chain had 3 marked links. your best bet is to count the number of links between the marks and find the link that needs to be marked

timing with the links is for the installation of a new chain!!!! chances of the links being in place for you are 1 OF 1000...

when I opened up my motor, all I saw was one silver mark and 2 links that had a circular groove on it.
