k so the story is i have a ca18det obviously lol with a t28 s14 turbo, 440 injectors, walboro fuel pump, front mount intercooler with skyline BOV, and tuned ecu for timing and whatnot. all i have left is to wire these dang electric fans off of an altima...theres 4 wires coming off of both fans and just need to know where exactly to tap the wires into..

For electric fans, it is best to use relays. When I had Alty fans, I used the fuel pump circuit in the main fuse block under the hood for my switched 12v to power the fans. Hope this helps.

Take a car battery and test the wires, I'm pretty sure the multiple wires are speed activators. For example on my Ford Taurus fan it has 3 wires, Black(ground)- Orange(Low Speed)- Blue(high speed) so just ground the black wire on a negative terminal and test each wire and pick the fastest one. Also dont wire it so that it turns on when your turn on the car, not only is that ineffiecient it also makes your motor take longer to get to its optimal operating temp. Go to your local auto parts store and get a adjustable temp fan controller their $20.

I use a Derale fan temp (adjustable) thermostat..

You put the probe into the radiator and it turns the fan on at a certain temp. They have them at summit racing.

I have that taurus fan, came with my car, what a gigantic hunk of ****. I found out about the lower speed after i pulled the wire loom back and found it, thank god because the high speed is ridiculous and pulls over 40A. It works perfectly fine on low speed, hispeed is for when you turn the AC on, and remember in the first place it was for a taurus with a larger motor.

yup just go to the aisle where they sell the fans, oil coolers etc etc.

The package comes with wiring instructions, but you just wire up the fan to the special box, and 1 wire goes to a switched 12v usually when you turn the key to "on" the wire has power. It also gives you the option to wire up a switch so if the little relay box took a dump you can still power it via the switch.

Heres what it looks like and the link.

Can I ask why you couldn't just use the same wires that the stock fan uses for the stock fan? I know it's thermostatically controlled as well tied into the AC.

got rid of A/C and stock ecu, plus I like to keep things in a standalone fashion also makes things easier to diagnose if something goes wrong, and its adjustable for optimal settings.

I used the factory relay for my fans, but the standalone controls the relay. Simplifies the wiring...

The way that adjustable fan controller wires with the Fan ground where ever you want, the blue went to the box, from their to the switched 12v source, just 2 wires.

plus relays tend to confuse me even though their easy

That confused me. Are there 8 wires total, or 4 wires total?

Yea, IIRC it uses one fan for the AC and one for the radiator. They're both mounted together on the same bracket and they both mount to the radiator together, but the Altima's wiring is setup to use them separately. I also think that one or both of the fans has multiple speeds. BUT they some a TREMENDOUS amount of air, and for the price they can usually be picked up for at the junkyard they're a great upgrade.

that type of thermo controller pictured, my sensor instructons said insert into the raditor *hose*, not fins. Check to be sure.

Hayden #6347/Imperial has a compact unit with relay/adjustable tstat/fuse in one unit, that I always use. Cost more tho, ~$35-40 Sensor does go into radiator fins.Main fan kicks in normally at set temp as needed. Auxillary (2nd/AC) fan triggered by compressor wire tapped into unit. Works flawless, for years now.

One of the best single fans I've come across was in my 92 escort gt 1.8L dohc (different from the regular 1.9Lsohc scorts).Could not tell when fan was running from inside cabin, only saw the temp gauge needle slowly drop.

I liked my Altima fans, but I have been nothing but impressed with my Zirgo (part of the AutoLoc and B-Cool family of companies) 16" fan. Flows 3000cfm and allows me to set whatever temp I want and the fan will keep it there.

My Koyo, oil cooler, and low temp thermostat help as well

get out yer multi-meter, set it to resistance, and check them until you know which is which. shouldnt take but 2 minutes.
