Okay, so I know you have to get a KA alternator. So I went to the junkyard and pulled one off of a 94. The problem is when I went to swap the pulley, the SR pulley bottoms out on the casing of the alternator I got from the junkyard. Has anyone ever had a similar issue?

Yes, you have to use the ka pulley and switch to 4 rib belt.

I understand that. But my issue is the SR pulley bottoms out on the casing of the KA alternator. It looks like it's a rebuilt unit from worldwide.

That's because you can't use the sr pulley.

How come? Everywhere I have read they say use the KA alternator drill out the threaded hole for the tensioner and swap the pullleys? I ended up modifying a 5 rib belt same size as the sr belt. No need to swap. But I would like to get the correct belt on there eventually.

Idk but they must have never done it, or there is a difference between certain years
240sx's which I doubt. If you keep reading about it you will find plenty of people including you and myself that have had to deal with this issue. The ” right belt” will be the one that works. Lol

Thanks, it's funny how that's in so many places. My friend who has a shop suspects they rebuilt it with a front cover that wasn't OEM.

I ended up just cutting one of the ribs off of the Gates K050370 belt with a sharp razor knife. Tomorrow I will drive to the parts store and try to get a K040370. It's the same belt as a 1999-2002 Mazda Miata or 1999 Mistubishi Eclipse. Same size as SR just one less rib. Thanks again for your help.
