A 1994 Q does not have an OBD-II connector (since the second version of OBD, called OBD-II, was released for 1996 vehicles, and only a rare few had it in their 1995 model years).

What is on your car is probably the older OBD-I connector, or a Nissan special connector of some sort. I apologize for not being near my manuals to look up for you where it is - hopefully, someone else will respond for that. My guesses would be below the steering column or behind the ashtray.

And, of course, I am not sure if your OBD-II reader will work with the 1994 model years ... as mentioned, OBD-II was only available for 1996 Q45's onwards.

OBDII stuff wont work on a 90-95 Q45.. There is a gray consult connector where the fuse panel is but thats it, it wont work with your scanner...

Just pull the ECU and check the codes that way.!!!

The reason dealers have started charging for diagnosis is that they must buy 2,3, 4, 5 @$6,000 each Consult II and pay $37,000 for a MASTER diagnostic system [software] and a large CD juke box and a monthly fee to Nissan for updates.

These charges make it impossible for an independent to compete [on brand new models] even though than can buy the Consult II and the FSM via downloads they cannot get TSB in a timely fashion.

Luckily old ODB1 [90-95] cars are a known entitey and everything known [written] is available somewhere.

Consult 1 are usually available on ebay for <$2500.

Everyone should have an OBD2 scanner, they are so cheap and useful since they work on what are 10 year old cars now.

I just saw a small OBDII scanner from Actron at Pep Boys today for $69.99. This is a great price. The one I had that I can't find right now was about $150 and did just as much (which wasn't much). Made resetting very easy too though.
