Hello All,

I am doing a new clutch next week and it was recomended to me that I do a one piece Driveshaft. I was just wondering what are the performance advantages to this and is it worth the $400 dollars to upgrade or should I just keep the factory driveshaft. The factory driveshaft appears to be in good working order.

Thanks

In my opinion it is a great upgrade. There is some weight loss and you put more power down to the wheels. I plan on doing a stage 3 clutch. Light weight flywheel, and aluminum one piece drive shaft. Should be a healthy set up for my tt.

also while your trans is out you should get down pipes installed. If you don't already have downpipes.

I need a new clutch but im waiting so that i can take care of everything that is easier or has to be done with the trans dropped.

But if your not tracking your car and don't have big plans or anything i would say just keep the drive shaft you have now.

i've seen more than a handful of people on here install 1 piece driveshafts and then come back compalining that it isn't smooth, it vibrates, etc. I don't know if this is because of improper installation or what, but 1 piece driveshafts have left a bad taste in my mouth.

+1 on hte downpipes. they are easy to change with the transmission off (apparently).

probably b/c they didnt clock it right. I would do it to.... but you wont notice a HUGE difference... did u upgrade your flywheel yet?? if not that would be another thing to look into doing right meow

yes they are i had one in my na with a one pice....the engine revs so much faster but it really is not that smooth i chirped 2nd and 3rd with out trying most the time.

imo its worth it to do everything down there while the trans is ou that you could see your self doing in the future.....rear main seal, dps, flywheel, clutch, trans mount, and drive shaft. that's all i could think of.

I have the Z1 Titanium one pice driveshaft and have some vibrations coming from the shifter but idk if it's a seperate problem or what cause I bought the car like that. I personally want a stock driveshaft so if you want to fly over here and pay for instalation you could have my Z1 titanium one haha.

i have the shaft master aluminum one piece. theyre a nico sponsor too. if youre really limted on cash, i would do rear seal and flywheel before the driveshaft. the mass is spread out creating more inertia. you notice more difference with a light flywheel than a lightweight driveshaft.

n00b question but is it possible to do the driveshaft and flywheel yourself of should a shop deal with that?

Depends on if you are comfortable pulling the exhaust, driveshaft, and transmission out of your car.
