It really really bugs me at how losely the term 'tuner' is being used, it really annoys me when kids go out and buy an already modified car and call themselves tuners and go around telling every1 how fast there car is, they have no idea the work it takes to make a car fast, they just went out and dropped some cash on some1elses old project, theres a kid in my town who bought a VW golf GTI 1.8 L with a supercharger instead of the stock turbo, nice car but he did nothing to it (other than hook up the subs), and another kid has a Dodge Neon r/t with intake header and catback exhaust, both have body kits and only thing they did was put a system in it, decent cars but i would have much more respect for you if did some of the work yourself, not just hook up the soundsystem. ne1 feel the same way or is this kind of buy it already done up kinda thing becoming acceptable?

Blame it on Pimp My Ride, Tuner Transformation, GT4 and NFSU2.

Painting your rearview mirrors yellow and putting an APC sticker on your windshield qualifies you as a "tuner".

For situations where someone might start d!ck with me like that: "240's are slow'', "wanna race", revving engines, etc. I think I will just start carrying business cards with my AIM name and directions to the local track

Though noone has been so blatant yet.

Right now my goal for my 240SX is to bring it to "like new stock". Though I might treat myself to a set of alloy rims

being in miami, that term really is only thrown around at the spots where the fwd's tend to meet up. I really dont hear it that off tho. Yall are all right tho. Half if not more of the people driving cars with body kits out there have absolutely no idea what engine work entails or the painstaking process of mechanical issues. Then again, we cant really blame them for not knowing cuz it seems that a kids around age 15 if not earlier are starting to get cars more frequently. And i know that i didnt know a lick of anything at age 15 about my 240. I dont even think i knew where to pour the oil into my engine. lol. But then again, when i was 15, NICO didnt exist cuz i think aol just came out. lol.

WOW i hate ppl. who know nothing about cars, the guys at the local shop here, have a 450+hp probe that runs 11s, and a 290hp single turbo Rx7, my friend has a 350z and is getting it turboed there so they drive his car and he drives theres, he was out in the rx7 the other nite out in the country (they just left town) and a car came up on them pretty quick, so they slowed thinking it was a cop they get to an intersection and turn right then the car blows threw the intersection into the left lane and is trying to pass them, it was a 99' civic sedan with a bodykit altezzas rims and a huge wing....needless to say they taught him the valuable lesson that civics aren't fast and rx7s are

Civic CAN be fast if they are done right. Clearly though that one wasn't done right.

agreed some civics can be fast, and with the demand for performance parts for them rising the prices are falling, just look at a full turbo set up for a civic vs. a 240 (ka) hopefully if the same thing is happening for us and prices for 240 parts will drop down.... as i said b4 SOME civics can be fast but here in wisconsin it's a very very rare ocasion, there a 200hp turboed 03 coupe i've seen other then that the best one was a 90 si hatch rebuilt motor decent body kit, but n/a made about 200hp, i'd say in wisconsin 99.8% of civics aren't done rite and most certainly aren't fast, where as rx7s are pretty quick with out anything done to them, and this one had plenty done to it,.

Tuner, what a gay term I'm not a "tuner" or an "enthusiast" or some such other drivel. What makes you a "tuner" anyway? Is it your acne, inability to legaly purchase alcohol, the square footage of vinyl stickers on the car, is level of misrepresented BS ("VTEC" badge on a nono-VTEC, fake intercoolers etc), percentage of asian blood, kanji tatoos, WHAT!

sorry, I'll take my pill. I have to go put those plastic spinnercaps on my mom's Exploder cuz I'm a Playa

yeah, complaining about guys that buy cars modified.

lots of rich old farts buy all the 600 benzs when theres nearly no difference from a 430 and 500 besides minor stuff and bigger displacement etc.

lots of guys buy ferraris/porsches/lambos etc and never drive them in the track and only use it to own people on highways...

even if we buy our own parts and install it ourselves it doesnt mean much... say a catback exhaust. so we take off a couple of rusted bolts remove the stock exhaust from the hanger and shove in the new stainless one. big deal... nothing special... same with intake take off the stock intake box remove plastic piping replace with aluminum done!... and also lots of other stuff

"tuning" is no big deal unless you're going nuts like rebuilding motors, porting, cutting, welding that type of stuff. regardless lots of people bring their cars to shops such as phase2, heavythrottle etc to get their engine swapped+other stuff so what does that make them...

Yea but were are talking about people that take credit for others work......If you understand the stuff but had someone else do it because they are experienced then your cool ith me.But when you ay you know everything and you don't know what a MBC/EBC is then go F*** your "tuner" self

Actually, I don't even know what EBC or MBC is. I did a quick search and I think MBC is Main Bearing Capacity. I am still not sure what EBC is though.

Still, I mean I know nothing about suspension. If you ask me abotu certain parts I will look at you with a wtf face. But I know a lot about engine and electronics. As long as you don't take for credit for something you don't know.Yesterday I did a spring job and ran into to trouble and couldn't tell people what the problem was because I didn't know terms.

Where i live theres tons of different types of cars and ppl doing all types of crap to there cars. There are some great looking civics around hea too and i kno a lot of ppl who do all there stuff on there car themselves. But then of course theres the ppl that put all those gay 8 feet high wings on there car mainly civics thinking they go faster and i just look away or laugh. The great thing about being ot hea is theres a lot 240's but the ppl that drive them just use them as work cars and such. The only ppl around hea wit sr's that i kno of are my mehcanic and I but i kno there has to be more but they keep it all on the low and our cars less prone to get pulled over to check for stolen parts Meaning the crowd thats owns 240's in my area are going in the right direction.

"Tuners" also like to talk about all the "fabrication" they do, too.

heh, "fabrication". Us broke bastards fabricate, not cuz it's cool because the wallets thin and we have no choice. I once use a section of chain link fence top post as a return pipe on an intercooler install. After I painted them up nobody knew, until you tapped on them. "tink",,,"tink",,,"tink",,,"thunk"

I feel your pain, I hate people who have never touched their car with a wrench and yet call themselves a tuner. I guess in some sence they could be a "tuner" for deciding what to put on their car next. I had to show a friend who owns a nicely moded 350z how to do an oil change . But i give him credit because atleast he wants to learn how. And a question that has been buggin me a long time that i think should be asked in this post is.....WHAT THE HELL ARE MORONS THINKING WHEN THEY PUT A HUGE APC STICKER ON THEIR WINSHIELD??? Its like they buy some chrome apc winshield wipers and they come with a 4*2 ft sticker that says APC

I have seen a Mazdaspeed sticker on a Skyline. I just assumed that he had a set of FC injectors and was being a smartass, I would do something fruity like that.

The By's at TT don't do a bad job of the cars. Better then "X to the Zibit" :P Jack's tastes are very nice most of the time in my opinion.

Gotta admire a man who can learn.
