Anyway, I want to know how he fit 002's so well without flares.

I've got a set of 002's and tires in my garage right now that I paid $300 for, and I was just going to run flares to be able to fit them. He seems to be doing it without, so maybe I don't need the flares (or maybe I need even wider wheels, lol).

You guys are making me want to go buy my nieghbors Miata. It looks like the pictured ones, except totally stock lol. He ismy old friend's Dad. Friend became a jackass, so we dont talk. His dad uses that Miata as a DD. Paint is faded but w/e. Kid thinks its a POS and wants a Eclipse (ricer) as his first car instead of that Miata.

Go to the "online shop" area

It's a clothing brand, but they also have a few blogs (main blog, Neek, Feed, etc)

Kiddies, dropping a Miati that low ruins the handling. The a-arms can't take it.

Well, you can modify the a-arms to make it work, but it's so much effort and the Miata still doesn't like it.

That much negative camber in the rear doesn't do nice things, either.

I hear you, but boso cars aren't track cars.

No one (hopefully, lol) builds cars along this vein with the inclination to really use them for serious track time, as they're obviously not suited to it for a number of reasons.

Honestly, a lot of people slam this low just for pictures and to drive around for awhile and then take it back up.

hash, you can see from the last pic how much he pulled those fenders out. damn.

the 13b that i picked up today is an s4, no intake mani or oil pan. the transmission may be from a turbo, ill have to do some research (doubt it).

if i cant get my hands on what i need to fully rebuild it and put it in, ill use it as a learning tool to figure out the engine and find a complete one to swap in. no rush.

Why would you do such a thing to a Miata?

for fun i guess. there is a thread on club roadster featuring slammed miatas, one guy even broke his differential by hitting a bump on the freeway.

i think being low to the ground makes you cooler? lower you are, more respect from that segment.

honestly, i might be the guy hash mentioned who slams the car for lulz to take pics but i wouldnt and COULDNT drive it like that without breaking something.

Why would you boso out any car? Because boso'd cars are awesome, they're a giant middle finger to society in general.

Doesn't mean I'd want to DD one, or take one on the track.

so this 13b that i picked up didnt make it to the engine stand yesterday like i wanted. im pretty excited about taking it apart but i think im going to spend the next week reading before i tear into it.

i dont know if its savable yet, if it is i might try to piece together what i need to swap it in later. if its worthless ill take it apart and put it back together, maybe sell the usable stuff and find another motor.

So here's my $550 Miata:

I've calculated that I can do the whole project for under a grand. I've already got a set of 002's for it, debating whether or not I need to run flares. I'm probably going to go with illuminas, ground controls, and NB top hats for suspension.

I need to get some boso pipes fabbed up, not sure who to get to do that.

im not looking a gift horse in the mouth here. this is probably going to go a long way for me as far as learning how to rebuild and maintain it, how it will fit in the bay, what i need to do to get it going etc...

if this one does end up going in the car, that would mean the prep work would be complete if i chose to go with an s5 motor or a turbo motor or whatever.

its kinda messed up looking. the motor was supposedly taken out "running" with a water leak somewhere. it was sitting on a tire but the oil pickup still got bent somehow.

so i started the teardown on the motor and discovered its not completely seized, and its actually cleaner on the inside than it is on the outside. so that's good.

i got the manifold off and pulled the water pump and housing. i got stopped by the 54mm flywheel nut, realized i needed to probably get some more tools and the adapter to mount it on an engine stand instead of trying to do it on a workbench.

ive been working on the other car and not really devoting any time to this project, but i had a few hours to kill yesterday while i was watching the temp on my smoker that sits right outside the workshop/raping shed.

im also going to be tearing down and maybe rebuilding the rx-7 transmission that came with the motor.

So remember me saying I needed a new engine? Yeah... The original one lasted a while longer through repeated abuse getting steadily worse over time. I broke down and bought a motor from a guy who wanted to build a Lotus 7 replica around it but it didn't pan out. About 120k on the new motor - high yes, but a lot less than the 130k mine had on it. Finally the day came when I couldn't deal with it anymore so I started the swap. Ran into a bunch of issues and it took 7 days to do a 2 day job because I had to hunt down and buy replacement parts.

Now the car is running with the "new" motor, Racing beat intake and header, Buddy Club Spec II exhaust, deleted aircon, power steering and cruise control and a cool new valve cover just for lulz. Breaking the new clutch in is seriously the hardest thing I have done on this car so far :P
