I have a brand new G37 Infiniti - only 3000 miles.

I noticed last night that the driver headlight (HID BiXenon) did not come on after starting the car with the light switch in the Auto position. The passenger headlight came on as expected. After turning the light switch to the off position and then back on the light came on as it should. This happened again late that night. The problem is only when starting the car with the light switch in the Auto position.

Of note I have an aftermarket set of HID BiXenons on my F150 truck that do the same thing - the distributor felt that the drain to start the truck must be lowering the voltage enough that the headlight wouldn't initiate during starting the car --- the point is that I have seen something similar before.

Any suggestions for my new G37 -- I live 3hrs from the closest dealer!

Are you under warranty? I'd take that baby in after talking with them first (because you live so far). Another option may be a Nissan dealer. Some will do warranty work for Infiniti.

If you're out of warranty, check out the FSM (link in my sig) for info on how to troubleshoot and test/replace faulty components.

Yes, take it into the dealer and have them address the issue. Honestly it sounds like a ballast issue.
