Yeah, the way the researcher broke IE 8 is documented in his paper (warning: geek content ahead ): HERE, and it is amazingly complicated!

Warning: the link is to a PDF document ... if you do not have Adobe reader on your system, you will not be able to read it (will be asked to download it).

They watch you pee.

Doesn't chrome try to keep everything (like flash) in the sandbox? Also, this is one of the benefits of open source software. Some of the users are just as smart as the hackers, so they can go in and close the holes before they are exploited.

Well, I clicked the link to try to understand what was going on. It locked up my browser.

Coincidence?

Uh, which link? The one in my original post (that is simply a web site) or the later one (it is a PDF file, so needs you to have Adobe PDF reader available on your system). If the latter, I'll edit and make it clear in my post.

It should not have locked your computer up in any way.

I would switch to chrome as well, but the dev build for linux doesn't support pinning tabs, and that is a major selling point for me. The older versions (like on windows) support it, so I'm sure it will be replaced. Also, I need those tabs to be persistent.

Ubuntu 9.10, probably soon to be 10.04.

Except my HTPC, that's still on 9.04 as it'll be a lot of work to upgrade. That will probably get upgraded to 10.04 (skipping 9.10) because Lucid is LTS.
