So here's what I've done so far...-completely repaired and repainted the old bumper, plus a little extra touch ( I N F I N I T I )-replaced the rusted out exhaust, plus stainless exhaust tip-repainted all the wheels (paint was badly chipped) with duplicolor's wheel paint-red calipers, using the duplicolor kit, plus white letters on the tires (also duplicolor... "hot tires")

Next up... tail lights. So the question is, should i tint them? what do u guys think? If yes, spray or film? Does the tint make it much more difficult for the people behind you to see your lights/ turn signals? I'd hate to have all my hard work on that bumper ruined by a rear end collision...here's the more pricy light optionhttp://www.amazon.com/97-04-In...=8-47what do u think?-Nick

and I know someone's going to point out that my right running board is off but the left one is on... I'm fixing them both one at a time, welding new steel support beams under the steps. The old ones are completely rusted out

id go with the spray, those lights have quite the curve so unless you have good tint skills spray will be cheaper and way nicer looking, only con is if you dont like it you need new lights or if cops pull you over.

A couple guys on this forum used the nightshades spray and it looks spectacular

Qxxx, what did u do with your tail lights? they look similar to the ones i found on amazon. Are they tinted at all? Also, how do you (or anyone else) think the tint would look with the current color scheme?

yur colour scheme will look great with tinted lights id say. It sets a very aggressive tone on lighter colours, it will also help blend in your infiniti decal on your bumper

i purchased my tails on ebay, my stock one had a crack in it from previous owner so I figured I would give these a shot. They only cost me $140CDN shipped and have been great the whole year and a half ive owned them. My biggest concern was fogging in the winter/rainy days due to cheap seals from these aftermarket makers, but Ive never had fogging of any sort, i guess I was lucky.

There are a few versions of "alteeza" tails for R50's, mine are definately unique and are "smoked" the lens is coloured with a tint, no film. This makes a really nice effect in my opinion with the chrom-ey inside. The lights appear more tinted in the sunlight and at night appear clear and since there is no film the light is 100% visible, but that doesnt mean I wont make them darker in the future....i wouldnt mind...

my Q (left) and slickrogers pathy (right) those lights you were looking at on amazon are black inside with no tint on lens so they would look like slickrogers

and towards evening they dont seem so dark

I'd stick with the stock lights and see if you could remove the orange bulb for ones that have a silver coating, but still light orange. You would get rid of the egg yolk look, yet retain and amber flasher.

the only thing I would change on the back is the INFINITY on the rear bumper. It makes it apper you are trying too hard to let people know what type of vehicle you drive. Also, is says Infinity right below the plate, so I don't get the whole bumper letter thing.

Wheels could use some gumetal paint, but other than that, everything looks fine.

thanks! much appreciated, i put alot of effort into it to make up for what the 01+ qx4s HAVE lol your doing yours up right though, taking care of the details like wheel paint and sidesteps is smart. My sidesteps need to be redone too im scared to stand on them.

looking forward to more pics in the future!

...at least he spelled it right. its infiniti, not infinity. LOL jk

I think that will look pretty neat with black out tail-lights and removed badging on the rear hatch. Black lettering, black tails, black window...its nice. And my dads land rover had at one point 4 land rover logos.....license plate trim, bumper, hitch-hole cover, tire cover, im just too shy to tell him. lol

haha the thing is I am trying too hard, and I'm fine with it. That" I N F I N I T I " is going nowhere... i stenciled it on over the base coat, then laid four coats of clear on over it when I was doing the bumper. I wanted something that would make the car stand out a little more, and I'm happy with it, although i do see where you're coming from.

thanks Qxxx... I agree, I think that the INFINITI will look less out of place with blacked out tail lights, and the tinted rear window, black infiniti badge and black lights will look nice together. And dont laugh at my attempt at photoshopping tinted tails in...

May i ask how you painted your bumper(steps :D). I've got a big scrap on my front bumper but have to idea how to fix it. The whole paint came off. Its just bare black plastic.

Btw Love your touch on the bumper and those rims look oem to me. What kinda of colour did you use.

thanks jonathan... the bumper went as follows1. got the primer, color, and clearcoat from http://www.automotivetouchup.c...s.htm the directions are on that link, but ill tell u what i did anyway2. cleaned bumper and did a wetsanding with 320 grit 3. filled any big scratches and gauges with an epoxy body filler4. sanded again5. masked off EVERYTHING in the surrounding area6. sprayed three coats of gray primer, let it dry, then three coats of the gold7. stenciled on the INFINITI thing8. three coats of clear9. (havent done this yet) wetsand with 1500, then compound and wax

as for the wheels, I used duplicolors silver wheel paint... It looks good enough, just until I have enough spare change to buy a nice set of 20" rims
