My KAE-T smokes pretty badly when I am in Boost. Would this indicate broken ringlands or bad turbo seals. I can't get an accurate compression test do to low battery voltage until my new alternator gets here. There also is a little shaft play on the turbo but I don't know how much is acceptable there? I am running a restrictor in the feed line.

Comments?

Can you describe the smoke? Is it white and sweet smelling, blueish tinted, or a dark black color?

I would say mostly white maybe a little blueish, Its hard to tell because it only happens when I am in full boost and I have to look at it in the RV mirror.

It's oil burning i know that for sure. It seems to get better when the car is nice and warm also.

Hey, I have the same problem. Compression test shows 180 psi in all 4 cylinders. The turbo is new. But the car still smokes a little at WOT. I tend to think it's PCV system. I think that if I'll plug the hose going from oil separator to intake manifold or put it through oil catch tank the smoking should stop.

I have a SOHC and the hose for the PCV (if it is the one that comes off of the valve cover) I routed towards the back of the engine bay and out the bottom. But it smoked before that anyways

The one on the valve cover is inlet, the outlet that "sends" crank-case gases (with oil in my case) in the intake manifold is on the left side of the block on KA24DE.
