I found a 03 Q45 Premuim that is in great condition. Even have a new set of tires on it with only 48000 miles. Best of all, it still have about 6 months of factory Warranty. The dealer is asking for $28k. Do you guys think this is a good buy? This car is a bit over my budget but I have to say this is alot of CAR for the money.

Oil consumption is not common, but a concern. Is there an extended warranty you can look into?

I would ask for a copy of the service history for any mention of oil consumption, etc. The extended warranty would be very nice if you can swing it as part of the deal.

I think it is a lot of car for the money, but as other suggested you should look into the extended warranty and get another 5 years or 100k. I got one on my 97' and didn't even need it, but at least I wasn't worried about a major repair happening.

BTW, make sure you inspect the radio, it appears the extended warranty doesn't cover that item in the new cars with the swiss army screens that do everything including radio.

I think overall a pretty darn good deal, you know you also have 7 years 70k on the drive-train too so that is also a plus.

Get service records, at 48k if it was serviced well it will not cost you that much in the first 2 years of ownership. My 97' has 42k on it when I bought it and I didn't really have to spend anything until 60k. If youi're new to cars like a Q45 keep in mind these are more expensive to maintain than a Maxima or Honda but worth it.

I'd say go for it but get them to include the warranty, you should also ask for a car fax so you know it was not in any accidents or anything.

In the service history, you particularly want to check for extended oil change intervals. If 3,750 mile OCI not documented, be very cautious.

The Infiniti Elite CPO warranty extension covers the radio.

This is from Infiniti.com:

"Elite Pre-Owned Extended Service Contract Option

For 28K I would test drive the 540i.

I did yesterday, I'm buying one. 2001 48K miles, $25 to 26K. B L O W S away the new Q.

Yeah, but what about the G50? Only 6 speed later 540i Sports are faster, and they are smaller cars. Any Q45 is more luxurious.

stock to stock, my 92 Q was a smidge faster than my 95 540i automatic. The 2.81 diff in the 540i was pathetic. I put in a 3.91 and it's now quicker than the Q, with no other mods. Also, with $150 and a half hour of my time, I can put in a chip to go from the stock 282hp to 325hp with no speed limiter (redline will hold me to 160, which is prob about all it could do anyway). If I were to spend that $$$ on a newer sedan, I'd get an early E39 M5 with the oil line for the VANOS and cats replaced. 400hp, 6 speed manual, amazing suspension and brakes.... DROOOL

Oh I know, I have two May even sell one to make way for the E39 six speed. Scott, I'm with you one this one.

These are not same class cars in _m y_ opinion. The Q is a grand touring car and the 540i six speed is a 4 door sport car.

Ahhhh, me spoil me.

Thx for all the tips. Service record and car fax both look normal. As for extended warranty, where can I get "Elite Pre-Owned Extended Service Contract". This is not a Infiniti dealer so I would need to look else where. Does anyone know where I can get the service contract at a reasonable cost?
