So I finally gave up with my vacuum leak problem and took it to a well known shop hoping that they would have some luck figuring it out...and.....they call me back today and say there are no vacuum leaks. And that something mechanical is causing it. So they are now in the process of doing a compression check and they will call me back.

Here is whats going on. At idle I have only 15 vac, and when Im driving it, itll stay there but sometimes drop and cause bad bucking of the car. Also when its cold its near impossible to drive due to the low vacuum which causes the car to buck too.

So what can cause the compression to drop randomly and go no higher then 15 to 16 vac??

Im completely lost please help me out sometime.

My buddy had the same problem. we did a compression test to his car and all the numbers were really low.. 103, 115, 150, 150. we put some oil in and compression rose a bit. which led us to bad rings. we changed the rings and there you go. the car runs great now. get back to us when you find out your compression numbers.

Ya I defiantly will. But wouldn't it smoke bad if it were the rings? Cuz my car doesn't smoke at all.

So I got my results back. Its a little low but no too bad. 135 across the board. They said that the compression wont cause the problems Im having. So they are throwing it on the dyno and getting a wideband on it to see if its in the tune. Has anyone else had problems with JWT ecus?

every engine has a little bit different dynamics and different tunes will be different on different engines. I think there is something like 3 or 4 different piston combos on the SR alone. That is why it is so difficult to get a cereal box tune and say this covers it. Standalones are the really only way to go either Power FC, AEM, Haltech etc. Everything you do from exhaust to intake can change the a/f and thus needing to reworked until it stables out. That is why JWT tunes are hard to work -- You can hook it up on a dyno send it back to JWT have them rework it then wait for it to come back. That is the only way to get it correct if it is in your tune which it probably is.

Ya Im hoping it is. If it is Im gonna send off the dyno info to them and have them rework it.

So im pretty pissed at the moment with JWT. Im waiting for them to get back from lunch to figure out whats gonna happen. But basically the tune they gave me is complete crap. Hopefully theyll redo it for free cuz it took them like 4 or 5 months for me to get it back the first time. At the moment I am not impressed with there work. Hopefull Ill be able to get things straight. Well see in 20 mins lol
