hmm 350hp budget build? With either of these motors you're gonna need a lot bigger turbo, manifold, intercooler, injectors, tuning, exhaust and a lot of other things that just add to the list.

Right off the bat I'd go with the sr20 simply because parts are super abundant and readily available and the swap is cake walk. The rb20 uses a manifold that crosses over the valve cover, and parts are a lot harder to come by compared to that of the sr20.

I love I6 sounds also, but the more sensible engine here would be the sr20 IMHO.

He is way right do some research bro rb parts are way more expensive and rare than sr20's. But everyone wants an rb but you really cant put rb and budget build in the same sentence. That is unless you have connections. but good luck. KA-T ftw

once i get the motor im not on a budget...parts cost is whatever i dont care....i just see that the sr20det costs more then the rb20det but the rb is harder to install which adds up to the same cost i guess...well i just found a complete swap today for an sr20det for $500 but it just has a spun rod bearing...any help and or advice on that if i should get it or not is welcome...my first 240sx build take it easy on me...im posting while researching

BS. dont listen to these fools. my rb and trans cost me 700 and parts such as water pumps and belts can be had from different motors for DIRT. you just need to know where to look. if you do all the work yourself and know what your doing go RB

350whp???go with rb or KA-T!!!!not to have much pain in the *** KA-T!!!Parts are dirt cheap... u can find them everywhere, and more powerful that SR..Or Rb20det - hard to find parts... pretty expensive maintenance and installation... I had rb25det... now it is sold and I'm going to build a KA-T...

Sr all the way when it comes to a budget build and ease of parts. You can do the swap in a weekend if you have everything right.

There's a reason why most people go with SR20. Parts are abundant, good power, and ease of installation. A lot of KA-T and RB guys will tell you why ka-t or rb are better choices, but most of those guys do their research and aren't new to car tuning. SR's are much more noob friendly.

I like the RB20 over the SR personally Combined with the R32 rear dif they feel pretty good driving stock the motor is like on 150 lbs more than the KA which is a tank of gas. Now the parts are a little more compaired with the SR20DET

im a lover of the RB series but i say SR20 due to how easy it is to get parts. with the RB you have 2 more cylinders worth of moving parts for no more real power. now if you want some good power go RB25.

first you say.. dont do the rb.. and then you say do it?

with the rb, the parts are interchangeable with each other.. just like honda engines..

he's saying not to get an rb20, but if you want real power to get an rb25. and it doesnt do much good for rb parts to interchange with each other, if parts for one rb are as hard to find as the next

comet.. I understood what he said..

i know all about price of parts.. its really not that bad.. if you want play your going to have to pay.. there is no cheap way to make power.. (besides Nitrous)

get a hold of carl h or cool whip if you want any info about the rb series engines.

if you're staying on a budget, i see only 3 really good options...

1 - KA-T2 - small block chevy3 - (even though i don't like the sr platform) SR

1 - with KA-T, you've already got the KA2 - a 350whp goal is not hard to achieve with a sbc. a third gen motor (LSx) can be had for less than a grand (4.8, 5.3, 6.0). And they're some of the best engines for hp-$$ gains.3 - as already stated, there is an abundant aftermarket for the SR and they're pretty easy to come by these days.
