Oh man...
So I have this job, working for my parents. I'm a courier, I file medical charts, and I'm their only IT guy for all their locations.
The doctors at the office downtown have been pounding their fists for months asking for high-speed Internet, so finally I ordered SBC DSL. Well, it was a nightmare setting it up with our phone system, so after a week dealing with that I cancelled and called Charter Cable.
They said they had to put me in touch with a business services representative. So I left my contact info and was told someone would call me in a day.
Well, a week and a half goes by and no one calls. I finally called back. The guy on the phone says they can set me up the next business day (Monday) at 8am. I thought wow, that was easy enough.
I got up early (on my first day back to school) and made my journey through heavy traffic into town. I get there, and wait. 8:30 goes by... 9:00 goes by... 9:30 goes by... finally 9:50 comes around and the installer guy shows up. He looked like a refugee and barely spoke a word of english, and explained to me that it was impossible for him to set up residential service at a business location.
Well son of a *****, I TOLD THE SALES GUY that this was for a medical clinic downtown! So the installer suggested I call and ask for a business sales rep... Hell no. They dont call back. So he suggested I go to their office and speak to someone personally.
So with 90 minutes before class starts, I got the address and drove around looking for this place. I finally found it, and it was full of Charter installation trucks and the front door was locked.A sign reads "Our offices have moved. Please visit our new locations at blah blah blah". Two guys standing in front drinking sodas suggested I go to one of the addresses on the sign to speak to someone in sales.
So I go to the other address, only to find a little place tucked in between a blockbuster video and a dry cleaner in a strip mall. I walk in, the lady at the booth informs me that the location I was at was only a payment center.
GREAT!!!!!!!!!
I asked for a number or a place where I could speak to someone in business sales to resolve an ongoing issue. She gave me a number and said "This is a direct line."
Well I called, and it was the SAME DAMN NUMBER IN THE PHONE BOOK that brings you to the stupid prompt "Press 1 for service, 2 for cancellations, 3 for billing"
I finally got someone to answer and it took every ounce of self-control not to call the lady everything on George Carlin's list. I'd been driving around town for a freaking hour on a hot day, just so I can call them back at a listed phone number.
She offered to put me through directly to a business sales rep. Well, I was transferred and got some other guy, who offered to do the same, who then informed me that "It shows here that your sales rep is Lyle Johnson." Well... no one ****ing told me that. I said "Who the bloody hell is LYLE JOHNSON? Am I supposed to KNOW him? Because he sure as ****ing hell never spoke to ME."
No wonder Charter is losing money.
So the guy on the phone took my contact info and said I'd be called back that afternoon. Well its the next day and no one has called. I think I'll call SBC back and pay the $200 (well, a company expense) to have them send someone out to screw with our phone system.
I feel better. So I'll go to my next class now. Thanks for letting me vent!
