Damn this backwoods country town. I hit a terrible dip in the road tonight in my 240 going about 45 :( It sounded terrible.Me exhaust has been alittle loose ever since I've had it but now it sounds like it's about fall off so I have to tighten the bracket back up now or atleast try to. I'm terrified that I ****ed something up. It still drives fine, tire are still inline. I took it up to 100 and had no problems at all, but while I was looking at my exhaust I notied my rear differential looked alittle wet on the left. It wasn't dripping or anything but it was wet. That concerned me, but I figured if I hit it hard enough to make it wet it would have busted open. Is tit common for them to be alittle wet like that? And what else could I have damaged from this? :(

It is not unusual for differentials to weep a little.

They also trend to be pretty solid unless it was hit directly it would not have suffered any damage just due to G forces.

Only when you see actual oil drops or a lot of oil, on a diff then you worry.

Also when u get new diff fluid put in (when was your last time?) eyeball the level.

If your car feels good up to 100mph, no vibrations or uneven tracking you are doing better than many.

I had it checked right after I got the car a couple weeks ago and it's fine. I assumed it was just wet over time and not from being hit. There's no dripping or signs that it was hit, guess I just needed some reasurance lol : )

I can cruise pretty easy at 100-115mph without any vibration or uneven tracking, especially on the highway. I remember racing a gs ecplise a week ago and doing 110 for a good 6-7 minutes straight with no problems. I'm very proud of my baby :D

Sounds like your car is running good, be sure to take some pics for our members ride section.

Send it with your screename to our webmaster (links above).

Also when you run it that hard, be sure to either use full synthetic oil (see our articles on "oils"), or a very good non syn thats a bit thicker (40 weight).

I took some pics of it the other day and just got them developed. As soon as I get them scanned I'll send them in.

Thanks for the advice :) When I had my oil changed when I first got it I asked them to put full synthetic in it

Well there was no damage to anything else on the car *phew*. The exhaust though will need to be repaired. obviously the preacher who owned it before me had some exhaust work down because all the piping looks almost new and it has a different muffler on it. However, it appears that they didn't weld the spot where the piping leads into the false muffler/resonator and is allowing it to wiggle and hitting the dip knocked it incredibly loose, so tomorrow I'm gonna have them weld it back together. Thank God that's all that happend lol :D
