OMG....Roomate bought 03 cobra t-day....I gotta up my game

My roomate bought an Blue 03 Mustang Cobra t-day.

All I can say is WOW!!! The car is amazingly fast. He offered to let me drive it (since I let him drive my car after sr swap) but I told him to break it in first. I want to be able to stomp on it.

He never floored it, but 80 mph came up incredibly quick. The car is quiet rollin on the freeway, which surpised the hell out of me. But the Supercharger makes beutifull whine when its asked to GO! I wasnt driving it, but it handles much better than any Mustangs I have rode in or driven.

Only bad thing about the car is that the passenger seat rubs against the inside door arm, making a squeeking sound as we drive along. He is going to make Damn sure the dealer takes care of that. I mean a 35k car shouldnt have that problem.

So anyways....Im gonna have to see if all the mods I did to my car this winter help me keep pace with his new ride. I laughed my *** off when he challenged me to a race last year in his 90 lx 5.0, and I whipped his butt.

Whole new ball game this year....he wants to race for garage space.....(I store my car somewhere else so its just a joke)

Dont get me wrong....Im still not a Mustang fan....But I give credit where credit is due.

My roomate is the ultimate Mustang nut. He has wanted a cobra for as long as he can remember, and when the 03 came out it became his dream car. Im very happy for him,he works as a car repair shop manager 6 days a week....12 hours a day. He has earned the right to finally own a nice ride.

My other buddy picks up his Blue 350z at the end of the month.....it should be an interesting summer...

Make sure he HOUNDS the dealer about every little thing, get everything taken care of before his warranty runs out. I don't think any of us trust a supercharged Ford farther than we can throw it.

haha not really though...but that car sounds awesome...i always wanted a Cobra too...one day...i'm not a mustang fan but credit is definately due there...cobra's are very nice vehicles

whats wrong with being a mustang fan ? i am full blown nissan but a "FAN" of ****-horses (rustangs) all my life. i grew up around em and owned one at one time. love em.

ever wanna really race some mustang but kid thinks hes the ****..??

i found out if you call it a ****-horse they dont like it too well. kinda like a soft spot.

Sounds sweet, ive really wanted a cobra forever. But ya tell him to watch it becuse i have heard they have had problems with the superchargers. Actually i heard they recalled them.

They have had problems with the 03 Cobras, supposively the bottom end's on the motors aren't holding up too well with the new supercharger added.

I have rode in a 03 Cobra, we were racing a Saleen on the highway at around 150mph, all I can saw is...........WOW!!! I must say the supercharger does sound ridiculous.

well i like the mustangs, and are good for the price, and also, as far as challenges, i think he should be able to put down those c5s, and i dont know whta the other cars have, so im not even gonna comment on that, and as far as racing a saleen @15o!!!! what happened?????????who won?????, kinda off topic, but today i saw a beautiful blue 35oZ TRACK MODEL, and the guy driving it was like 17!!!!!!!!!, and his friend was the same age in the passenger seat, wtf!!!!!!!!!

My friend has an 03 Mach1...His is only 305hp and 320 torque, compared to the 400 plus of the new cobra, I think. Still its a fast car.

Those 03 Cobra's are sweet.Ford did stop production of them due to some problems.I hope you buddy does not see any of those problems with his.I know someone who has one and hasn't had anything bad to say about it.

As for the C5's they dont fall as easy as some may think and if its a Z06 the Cobra will have a very hard time.

Sounds like you are in for a great summer.How about some photos of the 3 awesome care together???

2 friends close to me kind of have the same thing going on...One got an 03 EVO and the other got an 03 Z06.LOL:D

well, a stock o3 cobra should put down teh 45less hpwered c5 withuot much of an argument, now an EVo and a c5, that would be good, however, i know someone from SCC beat a c5 when he got to drive the EvO, and he beat him with a 13.8, but as far as a zo6, the zo6 still got ya, even a nice new cobra couldnt take a zo6, well, it COULD depending on drivers, but if drivers are totally equal, theres almost no way the cobra could consitantly win

Yeah i like the 03 Cobras also, plus its all my friend can talk about. The thing that sucks for you, is your friend could drop less then 5k into that Cobra and have over 550rwhp. They have some Running 9s, and there is even one with over 1000rwhp already. oh and if he just got some good drags, he could be hitting low 11s. But not where i live, stock Z06s run high 13s, really sucks living 4500ft about the sea.

But Ive seen in my roomates ford mags that $1500 worth of bolt ons...i.e. exhaust, pulleys, intake.......get the car to 500hp and deep into 11's...

Very true....but I could put another 2k into mine.....i.e. bigger turbo......and I would be running 11's......and still be 10k under a STOCK Cobra......:ylsuper

there is a sick '03 cobra convertible here in town w/ aftermarket rims, suspension work, exhaust, not sure what else. its amazing. driving behind his car a few car lengths, i could hear the blower whine over his and my exhaust, which are both loud.

drivers are a big issue with cars like this. i bet the vette didnt' know how to drive or something. and .2 seconds isn't alot of time to work with in the way that the basically if the vette isn't being driven very very good, it will get beat. look at how much power the cobra has though, and the vette can still beat it (or so the magazine says).

I've driven two '03 Cobras and one Z06 and both are awesome. I didn't beat on the first Cobra coz i was just transporting it to and from the dealer from my shop. The second Cobra got some aftermarket wheels/tires and i took it out on the highway to "test" for road noise, ride harshness. At 140 or so, they drive quite well. I've heard rumors that the transmission has issues, but i experienced no problems with the brand new Cobras i drove. The Vette I've beaten the holy hell out of, as it belongs to my boss, and he encourages heavily flogging all automobiles to see if they suck or not. Both cars kick A**.

It was a 50th aniv. vette if I'm not mistaken which means nothing performance wise since it has the good ole' ls6. Most stock Cobra's are pushing about 370-380 at the wheels, for once Ford has underrated a vehicle unlike the dibacle of the 99 cobra that dyno'd around 230rwhp (rated at 305), luckily it was fixed. I own a Mustang and love almost every style mustang..there's just such a tradition behind the car that is almost unmatched.

That being said the 2003 Cobra is a monster. My uncle purchased one and I've had the pleasure of driving it. Let's just say it makes me happy. A lot quicker than any C5 vette that I've been in/driven (all where mostly stock). It was Ford's last gasp on this platform for a great car. Just wait till 2005 and see what else they have up their sleeve.

I agree that the 05 Stang is going to be a real nice car!Ive been checking the concepts out and am really happy with the styling they are going for.It will have that old school look with a new twist.
