In the back of my 08 altima sedan 3.5se are 2 thin metal bars one black one silver, hanging under my bose factory amp that look to be connected to a plastic piece in the middle. My 12w6 seem to rattle the hell out of these. Any suggestions on how to kill the sound? Any other owners have this happen?

Suggestions:-Reinforce them with thicker pieces.-Remove them-Add plastic washers at all of the mounting points-Add sound deadening over that area

There is a clip in the back of the trunk where it keeps both the two sticks together and helps stop the rattling.

I have the same thing happen to my car, not to hard to find the little clip, it should be somewhere between the sticks.

This is the torsion spring for the trunk. It helps to keep you from having to pull the entire weight of the trunk up and to keep it from slamming down. And it pretty much is the source of all evil rattling in the rear of the car (hopefully someday Nissan will actually put hydraulics in instead of the cheap spring). What I did to dampen this sound is:

Get a pool noodle, or some other type of sturdy foam. Cut off a ~1" slice. Get some 3M double sided "red" mounting tape, and attach it to the foam and press firmly for a bit until it starts to hold (it won't be perfect, but it will be good enough). Then drop the back seat, take a flashlight and find where the torson spring "junction" (the point where they cross) rests with the trunk closed. Open the trunk, then mount the foam where they crossed with the lid closed. Close the trunk to test (make sure the foam doesn't push the trunk door back open when closing, but that the spring bars press into the foam decently). This will cause the vibrations in the bars to be dampened considerably.
