generic808 wrote:Tyler, you did your fogs through the well or bumper? And did you add aftermarket fog housings, or did you just replace with HID bulbs and ballast?
The fogs are easy to get to. Underneath the bumper you'll see another piece that you can move aside to gain access to the fogs. The wheel well was not touched. My coupe had come with the factory fogs so I removed the halogens and installed the kit. The ballasts and ignitors are mounted safely under the hood. I used a set of McCulloch 4200k.

^^^ Matt is right. Its what we both thought it was. Switch those bishes around!

I tried both ballasts both ways but it was a no go; however, there was a clip which prevented the harness from plugging all the way in going the opposite way. I guess I'll just rewire it or break that little retaining clip and see if it works. But, it'll have to wait til next weekend.

Yea if you just tried plugging it in the other way it might not be making contact. Take a small flat head screw driver and take both the red and black wire out from inside of the clip then switch them around.

What a pain in the *** Eric Good luck buddy!

Would that be the best way to replace the factory HID bulbs if you wanted to change the Kelvin? it looks like there's alot of room in the wheel well... on my 1st gen I had to take out the coolant resevoir on the passenger side to get to bulb out, and almost had to take the battery out to get the the drivers side... definitly a PITA... only upside was that I didnt have to mount the ballasts cause they would sit snug on both sides

One issue we had with my install was that the ballast wouldn't fire up for the passenger side. We tested the wires and everything seemed fine except for the wiring harness that plugs into the ballast from the headlight wiring. Noticed that the prongs were not seating into the clip right. My friend pushed up on the wires, plugged it into the clip, turned on the lights, and the ballast came to life. Good thing we had a multimeter to test the wires with. You may want to try that Eric. Check and see if the wires in the connectors in the clips are loose.

Yeah, I plan on taking the harness apart and rewiring everything all over again, the right way. It's just that I'm very limited on time during the weekdays and my hours are cragggie.

When installing this past weekend, I was running out of time because of the rain and short days here, so I had to put my car back together ASAP before I ran out of light. I did rush job so I couldn't really play around with the HID's too much. This coming Sunday I'll get an early start.

Was it easy doing the fog's? Would it be easier to drop the bumper for the installation? I was thinking of the 8000k so that it will match my HID headlights. Wouldn't it be too bright for other drivers on the oncoming lane? where did you mount your ballasts? Can you give me some instructions on the installation and if possible, show some pics...

Thanks....

generic808 wrote:So, after finally having time to install the HID's, I come to find that they're not working!! I guess you really do get what you pay for. I got this set from a guy locally who "distributes" the X-Light here in Hawaii. I found the same thing on ebay from a trusted seller, so I went ahead and bought them thinking that they can't be that bad. Well guess what? They are!!

After spending a good amount of time taking my car apart to get to my headlight housings, I hook everything up and they don't work! Then I thought maybe I blew a fuse but I didn't. I placed my stock bulb back in and all is good. So, I know it's either the HID bulbs or ballasts. The bulbs seem to be in good condition and I doubt I'd get two dud bulbs in the same box; what are the odds of that happening?

I'll update this post after I put my car back together. I took pics along the way so I'll post those to help others out. Just to let you know, I started taking my bumper apart, but when I got to the removal, I noticed that there's way more than enough space to go through the well. I then took the wheel off and the lining for the well and that was good enough. No sense in taking everything apart when you have enough space through the well.

Now I got to get back to my car. I'm so mad right now it hurts
Did you by any chance check the polarity? I thought one of my ballast were bad because I had the polarity mixed up.

I know that pain....I spent 6 hours installing my XS headers only to find that the alternator would collide into the left most pipe....6 wasted hours....suffered cuts and scrapes all for nothing. I was furious that night.

haha yeah, I think this was like 6 months ago or something like that. I'll lock it to avoid confusion for the newer members.
