Here are a few photos from the install today. Gained about 2.5" over the sagging rear before. Will probably settle to about .5 to 1" above stock. I used to be able to bottom out my rear (or pretty close to it) by standing on my tow hitch. Now it drops maybe .5".

All in all it took about 3 hours start to finish with a brief trip to the computer for torque values. Definitely, a worth while investment, ride is so much better.

looks good.

i have the OME too and while it's not as high as i would like, it's very comfy when you're driving calmly, but still sporty when you want to drive it hard. I've jumped my QX4 in the air on the OME springs with no problems.

Rides great...springs were like $160 for the pair, shocks were around $175 each.

you can see on the passenger side of the truck, a jack atop two 2x4 blocks of wood.
the OP then used the hydraulic jack to lower and raise the rear-axle as needed.

I think there's a write up someplace that used a similar method.

Nice work!!!
How about your fronts?!

Nice!

Have the fronts been upgraded as well? or are they stock still?

After your spring/shock upgrade for the rear. do you find any bottoming out (typical with oem)?

Thanks

Donald: Thanks

I haven't done the fronts yet, ARB/OME has redesigned the struts. new part numbers are 145 and 146. They are due to arrive stateside in about 6 weeks, once I get them they will be going in as well. If it is not too cold, if it is then they will be this springs project. I have not felt the ruck hit the bump stops yet, and I have tried. My OEM setup would bottom out constantly, Nissan has a TSB on this, which "solves" the problem by installing softer bump stops (Thanks Nissan, hide the problem, that will fix it.) The OME setup is great, I would highly recommend it.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Does anyone know how these compare to the popular KYB "Gas-a-just" shocks?

I am looking to firm up the suspension a bit to make it handle better on the road an also fix the common bottoming out issue. I am either shock will assist with this, just looking if anyone had a comparison of the two shocks.

Thanks.

I don't know how they would compair ride wise, but if you are going to get OME/ARB springs then the OME shocks would be matched to the correct length and spring rate.

Was this suspension install intended to "lift" the truck? or was it meant to maintain OEM height. I know you mentioned you were waiting to have the springs/shocks settle. I am considering this combo but I do not want to lift my truck. Please advise. Thanks!! :)

Not to interrupt...

I got the GasAJusts for my rear and I also wans't looking to jack the car up in height. I feel they work fine. Compared to the KYB GR-2 rear shocks, the GasAJusts are a little "stiffer" when it comes to compression and rebound. Makes sesne, since the GasAJusts were meant for a little more stiffer suspension than the GR-2's which are targetted for OEM replacements.
However, I have OME MD springs all around, and my rear is slightly higher than the front.
Fronts I have KYB GR-2 (aka Excel-G).

My brother has HD-fronts and MD-rear springs. He occasionally notices top-outs on the front-struts if he goes over a bump relatively hard/fast. But he's only put maybe 5000mi on it so far, so maybe settle-in is still taking place.

The type of shock you use won't have any effect on ride height that is all in the springs. I wasn't looking for a lift, the OME springs advertise .5" lift which is reall all in the higher spring rate. If you look at the photos of the stock springs side by side with the OME springs you will notice the OME ones are actually a little shorter. They are much harder to compress though, I can attest to this as I had to manually crank down the spring compresser on the stock to get them out and the OME's to get them in. I have heard that HD up front and MD (the only availible option) in the rear will give you the most level stance.

Donald and Pivot,

Thank you both of you. This helps.

I am assuming HD = Hard and MD = Medium. Correct?

I would be interested in seeing photos and review if and when you install the fronts. Thanks!

Do you have any idea. if the Suspension for QX4 and Pathfinder is same.

Can I fit OME 2" lift set up (both Front and Rear) of Pathfinder to my QX4.
Finaly, how this 2" will effect the ride on road. will it be 2 stiff, or it will adjust automatically in response to the bumps on road.

My main use is on-road, but on weekends I drive in Desert, where we require Harder than Normal Shock Absorbers and a Lifted car to avoid breaking bumper and getting stuck on crests every other drive

Yes, Pathfinder and QX4 suspensions are identical. I just checked in the FSM for both vehicles, the rear suspension exploded parts diagram is identical.

ya i just installed both front and rear coils by OME. The heavys on the front and meds the rear althought at first the rear looked execessivly lifted, compared to front, after i installed the front i gained 1 1/4 inches in ride hieght and 2 1/4 in the rear because the pathys front end is so heavy the heavy OME on fronts made for a really even ride feel. all in all...OME is the way to go i knew they were good before i bought them but after installing them and feeling how the pathy handled...i was so amazed. i could definetly feel alot more smaller bumps and cracks in road but it wasnt to harsher or a ride. very noticable but not annoying
