Me and my friend are restoring his 280 i think it is like a 80 it is fuel injected with the L26 motornow it has been parked for like 3 years we put a battery and some new gas in it and it ran, drove it a around then we seafomed it new spark plugs wires and coil but before we did that we washed the motor which proably wasn't the brightest thing but.......... now when we can get it started when you rev it, it won't get past 3 grand it hits 3 then idles back down like it hitting a limiter my friend thinks it is fuel problem but i think it is mass air sensor.which is it or is it neither?is there a way you can test the mass air sensor, or a way you can bypass it any help will be greatfulthanks

inspect the electrical harness in the distributor. they were known to break wires for the ignition control. if that appears ok I would guess its possible airflow. the rev limiter hint says its more ignition then air flow.

would the car be harder to start if the wires were broke? could it be a cap and rotor problem? besides the dist. what other problems could it be? also would a turbo mas help or hurt the performance?

no the car would start fine and run fine till the revolution of the distributor got up to a high enough speed to break the contact. If its not a turbo no need for the airflow. besides i dont think the airflows are different.
