That is a rather general questions. I highly suggest you check out Q45.org.

I've owned both a 98 I-30 and a 98 Q45. The I-30 is a much more common engine, and it shares more parts with other Nissan/Infiniti products (especially the Maxima).

If you want practical and easier to find parts or experienced mechanics for, the I-30 is your choice.

If you want an absolutely sublime interstate cruiser, and you are willing to spend a little more time, effort, and cash on an ongoing basis, look at the Q45. While you are looking at it, read all the stickies at the top of this forum. Realize that the Q was a $50,000 car back when that was a lot of money; it was meant to compete with the 7 series BMW and the S class Mercedes; it has lots of baroque features and engineering choices that are fabulous when they're working right, but which your corner mechanic hasn't ever seen before on any of the Ford Festivas he normally works on.

If your driving is about the destination, get the I-30.

If your driving is partly about the journey itself, look hard at the Q.

4 cylinder Civic is a bout 50%, 6 cylinder I30 is about 65% of the cost of maintaining the G50. No comparison between RWD V8 and FWD V6 or I4.

Just be sure you can afford to restore whichever vehicle you buy so you can enjoy your purchase.
