So I just replaced my fuel pump at 137,000.00, after the Q would sporadically stall at stop lights and some turns, rough idle at start up, and loud humming sound and vibration.followed all of the the instructions carefully. Now the fuel gauge does not work THe car is still really rough at idleand when I went to fill up the gas tank while in stop the car died out on me.Drove it home perfectly fine afterwards. Can I tell you what a pain in the *** it is to replace that fuel pump.

So what do I do? Replace FPCU or give it a week or two to see if it stalls out on me again?Any suiggestions would greatly be appreciated. Better yet if you are in the JErsey area and want to give me ahnd that would even be better.

Just in case you didnt know. T3 is a shop in Atlanta that is considered to be the best known non-dealer place to get the Q repaired.

Keith was an infiniti tech before and now has his own shop. Give him a shot.

I was able to find his contact info. One last question regarding the fuel gauge meter arm with the plastic bubble thing attached to the fuel pump.

That arm was free swinging when I took it out of the gas tank but when i checked to see what was wrong with it i realized it was no longer free swinging. I thini that is the problem but how do i ge tthat arm to be free swinging again?

Thnx

Did you take the pump out from the back seat or the trunk?

I did it through the back seat first then the trunk. It seems with 94 Q45T thatyou just have to take out the black boxshelving compartment int he rear.

Yeah, you must have bent the arm or it's hitting something -might be off a notch and binding on the baffle. The stalling could be either the pin burnt at the FPCU connector or at the board inside, worst case the guts melted from letting it go too long. Take the cover off and find out. Let us know what it is at this thread.

I took out the FPCU and removed the cover no visible signs of burn out spots but i've got check the adapter next. oh yeah how do itell if the pin is burnt? i was driving earlier this week and the acceleration was gross on top off everything else. I am going to remove the fuel pump as well and check if i can fix the fuel gauge.

If anybody has any pitcureof the fuel pump or FPCU it would be greatly appreciated. I havent been able to find the postings that i had previously on this topic.
