Sorry to drag up an old post but I just found it. Thought I would post pic of mine since I am a fairly new member. Marco's car can be seen in a Superstreet mag as well. Anyway here is a shot from the Tunerbash in Panama City. Went there a couple years ago before I started to resto-mod of the car. I can be seen getting the stroller from the trunk. Didn't realise someone was taking a pic. Photo was posted on another's website. Photo was just found recently. Car is totally different now but no pics of that yet. Once completely finished it will be showed off.

Rust had been poorly repaired before I got it. Since has been completely rebuilt. New rockers, fenders, doors and rear quarters. Frame rails and inner structure as well. All new rubber and a new motor. Expensive but happy with final product. Hope to be finished this winter..

At the JCCS this weekend was a good chance to see Marco's KGC10 and there was a DR30 there that still had the FJ in it. A really sharp 4dr GC10 whom I was glad to meet as he actually lives in the next town from me. Hope to help him and vice versa so we can tag team at shows...77Japan did you make it down? Thanks for the heads up on the show was definitely worth the 3hr drive to go see...

i did make it down. honestly, i wasn't too impressed with the skylines that made it to the show. the red R30, was a car that i was offered to purchase for $7500, the c110 was not the Ken&Mary model that always turns heads, the condition on marco's car wasn't appealing, but the 4 door hakosuka was clean. overall...better then no turn out, i still have a long way to go, but i hope to get majority of my project complete by year's end.

I was not able to make the show this year but did go to the first one in 2005. In that show, only the DR30 and Marcos KGC10 were there along with mine. The simple fact that anyone in this country has a classic Skyline and makes an effort to show it is commendable. I don't know if I am misreading your tone, but I know all the cars you mentioned (and others) personally and am inpressed each time I see them. Hell, I am still taken aback when I step into my own garage and look at my currently non-running KGC10. For you to be at all negative towards the cars is quite unfair. While anyone who has lived in Japan may not have the same appreciation for the rarity of these cars in the U.S., I applaud anyone that shares them here. It is a nice break from the littany of 510's and Z cars at most car shows. Yes, each of the cars has issues. But they are all drivers, not show cars. And while Matts KGC110 may not be a GT-R, it is still very clean and quite attractive. And what is wrong with that? Nothing. As far as I know, there was not even a high end model of the Skyline Japan. Does that detract from your car at all? No, at least it should not. You are building it to your personal taste, and I for one look forward to seeing it in person some day. Because in the end, I am excited about seeing as many classic Skylines at one event as possible. At next years JCCS, I for one will have both of my Skylines in attendance.

As far as I know the hottest Japan was the L20ET Turbo two-door. The Japan was kind of like the Mustang II of Skylines. I was never really fond of that model but the turbo in the black with gold accents was the best looking Japan IMO.

the purpose of forums is to voice opinions, whether they are negative or positive. as for the turnout... i give props to the rides that made the appearance. just a bit suprised to see some of the car's condition. maybe i'm a perfectionist, but as i do recall... did you ever complete your rb26 hakosuka? i remember seeing the car in a japanese mag, but questioned 'why' the car was never complete. even in the japanese car forums, a lot of the enthusiasts wondered if the car was ever complete?

I can appreciate that. While I too like to consider myself somewhat of a perfectionist I usually try to keep any expectations I have for myself seperate from what I think of others. I have found that my own ambitions have changed quite a bit over the years and what might happen to be my current goal could be very different from what I wanted in my earlier days. Many of the cars at these shows are the only cars these people own. They are often doing all they can to improve upon them, albeit slowly. I like to look at most cars in this regard. As a work in progress. Even my own progress has been slowed by me changing my mind as I go along. Even though some of these cars have a way to go still, I enjoy seeing them and can then appreciate the improvement from show to show.

As for the question about my car; it's still in the works. I sold the RB26 a little while back and have been a bit side tracked since. I moved out here to Phoenix a few months back and have been working on getting the new routine established. Add to this that I have purchased a '74 Skyline and have been buying parts for it. So my money has been split between the two cars and this has had an impact on the progress. I am just now starting to get back to working on the '71 again.

wow some harsh opinions...i didnt get to make it to the show this year cuz i had to work but man..im with brian you just gotta appreciate the skylines that are here and are showing...yes the DR30 needs work, new motor and maybe rims and iron face grill car will look great, to say marcos car wasnt appealing??? wow its already a rare car and has great history, does it really matter that it has flaws....look at the japanese magazines with old skylines, there are many beat up skylines but they love the car and still get much respect, i got a new legends of tuning dvd with many bozo skylines, c110, c10, bozo rx3s, laurels, etc...80% of them had a great exterior...open the hood its like crap, interior some complete some had half the interior yet i was still excitied to watch all these cars...you sometimes gotta work with what you got,,,,put your style and personality in it and time. many people had negative opinions about my v-mounted sr20det...why not RB? you gotta understand im not rich and RBs are not cheap....it would have cost me thousands of dollars to build,,,, i put in onsideration the ken mary had understeer with the 6 cyl, with my 4 cyl pushed back and lighter i should get better ratio. well point is older skyines are rare....appreciate them or better yet help each other out...thanks
