depends what you mean by "old school"... I mean you could always go for an old domestic monster with a V8 or something. If by old school you mean old school imports, then you seem to have a pretty good list down, but I don't think Celicas ever made 200 hp stock unless you get the All-Trac. ;) That'd be a nice project car!

i suppose you have the idea already.

ae86's are coveted for their handling, rwd format. from what i've read on club4ag's site, is that the chassis cannot really handle any more hp than 150hp without some serious work. so they're more of a driver's car. be warned, can be overpriced depending on condition (and whether the owner knows how popular they are)Z31 turbos=sweetMK3 Supras=very sweet (get some good HKS head gaskets :D)FC3S turbo II=if you got the guts280zx turbo=:drooling200sx (s12) w/ turbo or v6(as discussed in another thread)sweet cuppin cakes!4th gen-Celica All Trac=extremely hard to find, perhaps an engine swap into the GTS trimline? first gen MR2/supercharged=hotness!

there's probably some others i left out. but that's what came to mind

Wouldn't that cause some issues with the front wheel drive layout of GTS as opposed to AWD from the All-Trac? I would think it would be a hefty endeavor to convert it do drive on all 4 wheels.

I suggest you just get a really old all-trac and take up rally racing:D

1990 Mazda MPV :D crappiest piece of crap ever, but it still runs for us.. My dad bought the car back in January 1990 when it was brand new, 13 years and 140,000 miles of harsh (HARSH) city driving later its junked beyond belief from people hitting it in parking lots and not leaving insurance information, etc. When I inherited the car in high school I took out the middle seat so it rides like a limo and its great for hauling friends around town. I didn't bring it with me to college because I don't think it would make it 500+ miles from Sacramento to San Diego. It's at the point where its not worth fixing any more because the car isn't worth the amount of money needed to fix it! Still, I love the beast cause it's all I've had and I know it like the back of my hand. Seriously, I can outdrive some of my friends' sports cars cause I know how it handles.

Oh, and it had 130hp stock in 1990, god knows what its actually putting out now. And my only "mods" on that are the seat removal and the front MAZDA emblem, which partially fell off and now only says "DA". Oh the memories...

On that note, can't wait to get me a 240sx! :D

datsun 510

Toyota probaly offers the best selection of fun to drive imports that are easily attainable and have JDM counterparts and RWD in some cases.

Nissan, well the S13 is as good as it gets for the money.

orrr Datsun 280zx turbo, datsun 510, Z31

Some 80's european cars would be blast as a project. Good rally cars.

you can get a Starion pretty cheap, I see them for around $1000 quite often. They don't have 200hp stock, but some are turbo stock, so you can easily just dump a big turbo, intercooler, and upgrade the internals and computers to handle some decent boost. That'd be a cheap way to do it.

oh ya, one more thing, you most have at least 3 times the cars worth onhand extra in order to make the car a worthwhile drive. Old cars, expevially fast and sporty ones tend to beaten to death. You will break stuff often

oh yes. fwd sucks indeed, with that swap.. i could say... hmm.. torque steer anybody? yeah, probalby better off finding a real All-trac

and how i could forget a Starion? gee. i knew i left some out. Audi GT hatches (like the rally cars) from the 80's were cool to me. from what i know, i think they're underpowered, there maybe a turbo model though.

depending on what kinda car you want to get heres what i would get. if u want domestic , id say go with a 67 - 71 camaro or mustang or 88 - 93 camaro or mustang. if you want imports my two favorite choices are the 86 toyota supras and the other toyota car. i forgot the other toyota's name but it was the last edition of a corolla coupe in all wheel drive from somewhere in the mid 1980s. i believe it is called a sprinter trueno in japan. both cars are rear wheel drive and a newer supra engine could be dropped in either one.
