I have a 510 that I'm planing on putting an Sr20det into it.

For the chassis wiring, I plan on using EZ wiring harness, its quit a bit cheaper than the Painless wiring and probably easier that figuring out the rats nest of the stock harness. My dad bought the EZ harness for his '45 chevy. it seems like a pretty nice setup, it has fuse block, wire leads for head light, dome lights, turn signals, etc. it also comes with easy to read instruction.

I've heard that its easier to keep your chassis wiring and you engine wiring separate. Plus I'm planning on stand alone engine management.

Check out this site, He's putting a Ka24de into his 510, I'm guessing that it would be similar to putting Sr20det in.

The wiring is the least of your problems. Here are all the other issues:mounting the engine/transcenter steering link interferencefuel systemengine managementkeeping the motor coolHow in the hell do you get an intercooler in there?plumbing the intercoolerexhaust manifold (cant use the stock one)exhaust system

This swap takes a lot of time, money, and research. THere are a lot of custom fabricated parts involved, and if you cant do them yourself, then you had better cough up the money.I am currently working on comprehensive article that details everythign I did to get mine going.

THis is how it sits right now. It runs and drives and is waiting to have a downpipe-back exhaust fabricated and to have the AEM computer tuned on a dyno. IT has not been an easy swap. IF you want easy and fast, put a B18C5 in a 93 civic. If you are still determined, contact me at [email protected] and I can help you out as much as I can.

OKAY, OKAY MR CA18!

For my fuel system I am using an in-tank 300zx pump. I got a whole tank from a Z31 cut out the mounting ring and welded it into the stock tank.I am using an AEM fuel filter and AEM fuel pressure regulator. I made 3/8" stainless steel hardline for the underside of the car(feed and return) and flared them for -AN fittings(37degrees). For the flexible stuff I used -6AN Aeroquip hose and Earls hose ends and adaptors. It is running into a stock SR20 fuel rail that I modified to have -6AN male fittings on each end (that was a pain in the ***!). The injectors are the stock 370cc for now.Thats the details of how the gas is getting in my engine.

If you are not worried about the size of the hard line, then you can use the factory hard lines, some 510s had a feed and a return, others just had the feed. The factory had them set as a 5/16 for the return and 1/4 for the feed.Or you can run flexible hose the whole length of your car, or better yet, through the inside! j/k

You are going to want a bigger fuel pump. From what I understand, the 300ZX fuel pump flows close to as well as a Walbro. The stock S13 pump is a joke if you are going to run even a few pounds more than stock boost.

I never got actual flow/pressure numbers for the 300zx, but I can replace the pump assembly with a walbro if needed. So far it is great, it is relatively quiet and has been working. My car gets dyno tuned in march and we will find out then if it has enough fuel at the top end.I have watched my fuel pressure input go from about 32 to 60psi with no problem, the pump was fine.

well, from what i understand the 300zx pump is a drop in for the s13 one, just a different flow rate.

basically what i meant was i could use the hanger assembly as a starting point and then drop in a z or walbro or something.

Eventually, I want to build a CA and put it in a Datsun roadster. I also want to build a high revving rb20 and put it in a 510 for using on road tracks. I'd like to do lots of different swaps in various old Datsun's like the 510, Roadster, or even an old Datsun truck.

hey compression, can you post a few pics of your tank. im curios to see how it looks. and if you have any pics from while you were installing it that would be great.

did you have to shorten or lengthen the pick up tubing at all? i might go grab a tank out of a z31 in a junk yard by my dads

thanks again, mike

I dont have pics of it. But it is pretty simple. You can mount the pump in the center or the driver side of the fuel tank, either one. there are some baffles in the tank that you have to avoid when mounting it. If you do it in the center, you will need to bend the arm on the level sender so that it doesnt hit the pump. Make sure the mounting ring doesnt warp when you weld it in, I recommend using a TIG if you can. A MIG is hard to use because you cannot control it as good, and you get a lot of pin holes that will leak. It is a good idea to weld shut the old feed/return fittings on the bottom of the tank while it is out.The pump itself does need to be shortened abount an inch, which is easy once you are looking at one you will see how to do it.
