I just installed a Neo AFC using pieced together how-to's for the S-AFC. Try finding some of those, the purple wire was called the knock sensor wire for the S-AFC, mine doesn't show support for knock senor... Just get apexi to send you a copy of the wiring diagrams for yours and use the ecu pin outs found somewhere around here. power>power, ground>ground, maf>maf, ect

oh if it was really that easy! Thanks any way this tells me that I probably shouldn't use it any way. What do you guys think should I just get the Neo.

YES, I am sure that is made by apexi. If any one has any info that would be great thanks. All i really need is what car select to put it on.But I am pretty sure that I will just have to guess till I get one that works. I know how to wire it up and what maf to select i really just need that car select so if any one has used this on there setup please tell me what car setting you used.

Actually that one will work jsut fine too. I know I saw some people on here using it. But if you really wanted you can get a digital SAFC for way under 200 bucks if you got the funds that is ..

Just remember SAFC will not control timing, if anything it will advance it. So you might wanna throw a BTM or something on there.

An SAFC will retard timing off of your knock sensor. It's a crude and unorthodox way of retarding timing, but it isn't bad up to 10 or so psi. Anything higher, and you might want to invest in a MSD BTM if you wish to stay safe.

Great thanks for that. Do you know what the car selection is for the back of the unit?

Lol where did you get that idea? Thats not true at all, safc does nothing for timing. It has a knock input, so it will display your sensor readings, but does nothing for timing.

Exactly, SAFCs don't do anything for timing. Timing is just pulled from the knock sensor itself.

look lets stay on topic the unit that i have doesn't even have a lcd display it has 5 knobs that light up green. and i can only add or subtract fuel, thats it. It doesn't have a knock sensor input or any extra stuff that will mess **** up.

What the SAFC does is it interrupts the maf information to add or subtract fuel, there for making the ECU advance timing no retard it.

It has nothing to do with the knock sensor input which is as worthless as a narrow band A/F gauge.

With that said if you run more then 7 or 8 Psi using a safc you will need to get some type of timing control.

As for your question, I'm not really sure what you mean by car select?

Give us some options to work with.

yes you are right it iterceptes the maf signal and changes it to add or subtract fuel. I have a enthalpy tune for timeing and all that stuff. I just need to add some fuel to trim my AFR.

Ok on the back of the unit it has 7or 8 dip switches for maf select then it has a circle dial with numerd 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,a,b,c,d,e,f or something like that( sorry i am work and dont have the unit hear)for your car select so you input the maf and the car. I need to know the car select input. So if someone has used this before what was your car select.i have all the other info that i need. I guess i will just play with it till i get the right one if no one has this info.

NO one uses these anymore. You'd be far better off buyng a new version or a used version of the newest model. The Gen 1 model you have sucks. There is no support for it andwe don't have any wiring diagrams to assist.

Also, the SAFC increases the stock timing curve by fooling the ecu into thinking less air is actually being ingested. This is a major reason people pop motors. Forget about th knock sensor, it's a useless POS that has never worked on the 240 other then in NA form and not well then either.

The dip switches and knob are how you select the MAF. On the new versions this is the in/out setting. So use whatever the in/out settings are for the SAFCII and you should be good. Then make the AFR changes via the knobs on the front. Just go in very slow incremements. IIRC as the rpm increases, the knob that coincides with the rpm glows as you get to that rpm point.

If you get it running well, make sure you post pictures and a wiring legend so I can add it to te sticky. Trial and error is the only way to use these older electronics. I was in the same boat a fw years back with the RebicIII additioanl injector controller. Cept I gave up on it and went with alcohol in jection instead.

that was the conclusion i was comeing up with that i would have to figure it out on my ownSo you are saying that even with the enthalpy tune i will still cause timming to be advanced with this afc? Is that with just this paticular model or all afc.I know that it tricks the ecu so the ecu thinks that there is less air and so it also advances timming inadvertanly? I just started with this setup I gave up on my POS e-manage ultimate. So this unit is worth it even if all i want to do is add a little fuel.

Do you have a wideband? Why are you adding fuel? Doesn't matter what ECU you are using. If the MAF signal says it's getting less air then it actually is, then the ECU uses a different timing map. One that increases the timing more in most cases. This is the same with ALL piggy backs that reconfigure the MAF output. The Emanage Ultimate is actually a great system that controls the injectors themselves.

yes I have a wide band I am running a little lean like 14 afr. I want to add fuel to get down to like 12 I got a enthalpy tune for my set up from a freind. he had the same setup. only diferance is that I have a built block 8.5 compression ratio and its bored over. So my motor requiers a little more fuel than his did.

I took out my emange cause it was clashing with my stock ecu. I tried everything to get it to run right i mean everything and it never ran right.

I want to use this afc just to add that fule that i need.

If i am compleet wrong let me know cause i thought that i had a good idea of what i was doing

Your theory is definitly sound. Lots of people use a rom tune with a piggyback for fine tuning. It's just the model piggyback you chose.

Whats your idel AFR like? Can you just add fuel pressure?

This is only when you start to take away fuel from the maps though..

I never thought about the timing changes when your using a SAFC. Good stuff to know for sure.

theres a lot more people that have used safc and safcII than there are with NEO, but any are great. i personally have a safcII nad i love it, but all you even need is just a plain old safc which im sure you can grab for cheap. i dont really know anyone with the NEO so i couldnt tell ya much about it.
