Hey fellas good to be on board. At 59 yrs old, I just may be the senior citizen amoungst you young blood. In 05 I bought an Athens Blue 2005 cpe w/6spd transmission, sports tuned suspension, rear deck spoiler et al. Boys......I just looooove that little nasty Viper. As I spend a lot of time away from home (job stuff), I don't get to drive that sweety much (she only has 6500 miles on her). BUUUT when I do drive her, I drive her real hard. On my last "Late Life Crisis Foray", I noticed that the clutch slipped a coulple of times. I went to seek advise from one of my Vietnam Buddies who also has a shop and seconds as my mechanic. Vinny told me that on these Gees, it's best to change out the flywheel when you change out the clutch. What's the real 411 fellas?????? (411..showing my age) You guys seem to be on top of your game......especially that Ninja. Help an ole Jungle Doggie out. Thanks much, Tony D. OHHHHHHH!!!! I just sold my 1970 Chevell SS, and am currently setting up to rebuild my Dear Old Mom's 1964 1/2 289 Mustang. That should be fun. As we say in Philly, "STEAK IT EASY".

Welcome aboard. A flywheel swap is pretty easy if you're changing the clutch anyways. If you're just replacing stock for stock, then perhaps determine if your existing flywheel just needs to be resurfaced. If upgrading, do consider that all the aftermarket flywheels I'm aware of are not dual-mass designs like the OE flywheel so you'll likely get a lot of noise associated with it. If you do go aftermarket, maybe see if you can at least find a clutch disc that will work that uses a sprung hub. I did read somewhere that the Nismo flywheel does not create more noise, but I don't have any details why.

I'm working on my girlfriend's 63 Mercury Comet myself. We were changing the waterpump and decided to detail and paint some engine parts while were in there. We want to have it ready for a small show that is taking place in a couple of weeks. Post some pics of the stang when you're done.

Hey Fellas, thanks for the clutch info. I'll post some pixs of the Gee and the Chevell as soon as I can figure out how that's done. Ahhhh yes, I was a little hard letting that Chevell go. There were a lot of ghost waving goodbye to me as she drove off down the road.

Scrap the oem flywheel...It's too noisy IMO. Plus, a new lighter one will allow you to rev quicker.
