Last Sunday i was out with my brother-in-law and my dog in north east CT and the Bershires enjoying the scenery and scounting out some fishing spots. On the way home I came to a stop light on a two lane road and intend to make a right. The light changes and some yuppie jerk in a 640i passes me while I am making the right turn, going over the solid yellow line and into the lane going in the opposite direction. He continues to accelerate as my BP and RPM's did. I put the ancient relic in 4th, went to wide open throttle and was on his butt in about 4 seconds, I stayed in 4th. This was a great road with curves and straights. He tried to run away a few times but we were hitting speeds too high for the 4 eyed old man to even glance at the speedo. I figured the Beemer should have run away from me by now, but it couldn't. Good for me because coming up was a 4 lane road with traffic lights. The old man with his aged car could pass the yuppie and his 640i and then have some stop light fun. The little turd quit on me and a quick look at the speedo and it was coming down through 110mph. Oh well, I had a little fun and maybe got the badge lover who doesn't know stink about cars wondering what strange auto could have pushed him off the road.

The 640 is nice. According to the specs either the 6 or 8 should have been able to give me a harder time. i have to admit the 650 is one car I might like to own. But at those prices maybe I should be looking at planes instead of cars. My 2004 relic still seems able to hold its own and surprise a lot of badge lovers. Just wish the badge lovers knew what it really was and not tell me its just BMw's logo as there is a ton of history that made that badge.

yea, dig the new 6 sedans...I get to see quite a few of them being in SoCal, they really are good looking machines. The M versions are super sweet! with ground efx and the huge calipers/rotors!

The 640i seems to be an updated version of my 2000 540i. I have a thing about daily road cars using turbos to get power, so would not want the 6. The 8 i played around with didn't have as big a set of balls as my 540 or the driver didn't. Now the 12 I need to find one they will let me test drive, the little dealer babies probably don't even have one on the lot. Then I can go look at some small planes and ponder drive or fly. Both have their good and bad points.

Way to go! I beat people up all day long in my '04 relic, too. Good drivers are a thing of the past... Every friggin-body wants to be "first" in the line of traffic these days, yet they show no consideration for fellow drivers. It just makes me sick

I know exactly what you mean. They are rude, will pass unsafely, tailgate and my favorite, cut you off coming out of a side street. Then 9 out of 10 times they are a lousy 2 cars ahead of you at the next stop light. What really is pissing me off is that they risked at the least some small accident and at the worst caused a major accident in which people died. If I shoot one its road rage, s***, I just killed an ***hole who does not deserve the prilege of driving. I wasn't mad at all when I did it. One of these days soon it is going to start to happen. It seems to have already started in certain ways in this country.
