Greeting,

New to the forum and the world of Nissans.

Bought my daughter a 93 240sx coupe little car is a blast to drive! Can’t image what your modified ones run like if this stock coupe is runs like a crotch rocket.

Bought the car a year ago tuned it up and away she went no problems until now. She complained about it slipping or missing under acceleration. When I looked at it I found the connector to the O2 sensor came off so I decided to replace the sensor beings that the car had 100k mikes on it.Afterwards it seemed to get a little better but I think it was just wishful thinking. It seems to have a definite miss through the entire power range.Did a test on the ECM and it show's no faults. Put new cap and rotor along with a fresh set of plugs, no help. Replaced the fuel filter no help. Cleaned the MAFS no help.

My knowledge of these import cars is limited so any experiences or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

My daughter says thanks in advanced.

Did the car recently almost run out of gas? If so, you may want to check the injectors.

Is it a manual or auto?

If auto, you can also pull transmission control codes - what the actual codes mean can be found in the factory service manual (you can d/l one if you search for it...) or by searching on this forum for the codes.:

I believe this was originally posted by nistech, correct me if I'm wrong. I hope this isn't against any forum rules, someone please let me know if it is.

" "1)start vehicle and warm it to operating temp.2) turn the key off and press the OD button to on position make sure shifter is in park.3)Turn the key on engine not running make sure the od light comes on for 2 seconds. If it does go to #4 if not post back.4) turn the key off and shift the trans to D. use the lock release if neccesary. Set the OD switch to off.5) turn the key on and wait at least 2 seconds. then set OD switch to on.6) Shift to 17) set overdrive switch to off.8) press accelerator to floor then release it completly 9) set overdrive switch to on.

This will start the OD light to flash your codes. The light will have one long illumination flash then start flashing short blips. Watch the flashes carfully cause one or more of them will stay on slightly longer then the others. There are 10 flashes total. If say it goes like this, first the start signal long flash thenblip..blip..blink.blip..blip..blip..blip..blip..blip..blip. notice how the thrid was a little longer. The would be a 3 which corrospondes to TPS short or open.

When you do it there are 10 posibilities plus a no failure which would be all blips of the light."."

I didn't see for you said you have replaced the plug wires? This is the number one problem I've had with these cars missing. The plug wires will ark to the valve cover. You will need to buy good set a plug wires, like Bosch are NGK the cheap fall apart in no time at all. I also recommend NGK spark plugs. Hope this helps

Thanks for all the responses to my little dilemma. Sorry for the delayed reply I have been really busy. After posting my question I sat back and decide to return to the basics of trouble shooting, the K.I.S.S. Theory. If the ECM was showing no faults it had to be in one of the three essentials. Air, Fuel or Ignition. Nuts510 you were right. I pulled the rubber boots of the top of the valve cover and slid them back a little bit to be able to see the wire connection to the spark plug. Turned the lights out in the shop and ran the little car and there it was #3 plug wire looked like a Las Vegas light show. Replaced all the wires and she’s back on the road.

Thanks again for all your help.

you're a jerk. I'm telling him it could be something he should be looking at which is better than just sitting there going "Iunno".

I'm glad you are able to get your car running and that my advice was helpful. On these forms when you ask questions a lot of time shall get a lot of help sometimes you will get crazy suggestions, but it just comes with the territory there's a lot of experts on this site some really sure people in some people just try the help just take it all in stride, though I did have to admit the comment on the clutch did give me a little chuckle but just go on and don't get mad, I hope your daughters enjoy in her car again. as far as I'm concerned we could use more females plays with thems cars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!from one old guy to another
