What Dr. GJE said...
The G is smaller and seems a little more cramped to me but it sure makes up for it with quickness. Interior road noise is more pronounced and the ride, seats and interior fitments are a bit more stiff. On long trips, I'm glad I went with the M. I have 66K on mine.
The pedal-to-the-carpet torque feeling from the M gives me perma-smile where as the G is "fun" for a second or three.
The G will have more for aftermarket options than the M due to sales volume and to that point, there's thousands of 'em out there. You'll see only a few first gen Ms and only a few more 2nd gen Ms out there, so if a fairly unique bodystyle and limited production vehicle is of any value to your, go M.
The M will cost a bit more to maintian however. Get a little less mpg and REQUIRES premuim fuel. If that's an issue to you financially, don't go M...however the G will not be "cheap" to maintain either compared to a Tercel or Civic.
Is there a color preference, both have NAV?
Hows the leather holding up on both? Check the undersides of both for hidden damage or repairs. Check that the M has the underside engine cover that protects the oil pan and suspension parts.
How's the spare tire's condition? Both are full size spares?
Go to the dealer and ask for the maint record history on both. If they won't print it for you, they should at least tell you what's been done. Don't be alarmed if the M was brought in for oil consumption issues. It's a known issue that does not typically affect the longevity of the engine.
Yes, both can go to 100K.
"M" is for Man by the way....."G" is for ...well...you know.
