There was already a thread or two about this on here, too lazy to look for them though.

I haven't pumped gas at a BP gas station since Tony Hayward was quoted saying "I want my life back".

Like hipster cat, I was upset about it before the president acted upset and made it cool to be upset.

The President took way too long to get upset. I was upset before it was cool to be upset

Is it me, or is the President acting like a little kid throwing a temper tantrum? :gotme
I hurt inside every time I hear the clip of Obama saying that he wants to make BP pay. Money won't make a wrong a right and it sure as hell won't bring back the 11 dead.
But since money is all that matters, why should we care? :tisk:

Money won't do s***.
The negligent should do jail time, but oh, they're rich.
I also wonder if this backlash against BP is to cover up the cementing process that was being done by Haliburton?

Not that I'm saying BP is free of fault. They're both responsible for what happened.

I honestly haven't been reading/watching much of it because it's so goddamn depressing. It's going to affect more than just the Gulf.. I worry about the oil spill hitching a ride and coming up the Atlantic. :ohno:

He gave in to people pressuring him to "get mad" and he shouldn't have. Both the GOP and Democrats have been urging him to get fired up, and it's dumb. It isn't in his character, and it isn't something that getting fired up is going to help.

When the Valdez Spill happened, Bush 41 barely mentioned it.

I DO think that BP should have to fork over enormous monetary penalties, because in the end this IS going to be about money. This spill cost billions of dollars in lost fishing and tourism revenue and the cleanup itself will be very expensive. Someone has to pay for that, and BP has full legal liability. I'd rather they pay than we pay.

And I REALLY hope someone puts a damper on Jindal's stupid "sand berm" idea. It's going to hurt more than it helps.

At first I didn't think much about it, but after I looked into it more, I'm honestly getting worried. Thats a lot of oil thats going in to the gulf...... However, I'm not boycotting BP gas or whatever. Not pumping at BP doesn't really hurt the company, it just hurts the owners of that franchise. However, I'd soc the CEO right in the jaw. These oil companies have been getting greedier and careless over the recent years.....

You're right that it doesn't hurt BP whether I pump their gas or not, and you're also right about it hurting the franchise owners. That's the thing, if enough people(which it ain't gonna happen) stop pumping their gas at BP gas stations, the franchise owners are the ones that are going to feel the pain, making them switch over to another franchise. I think that would send a nice message no matter how small to BP.

probably not as easy as it sounds. i imagine it'd be like ending a cell phone contract early, only with A LOT more fees involved. it's a catch 22, yes it'd hurt bp, but it could potentially put a lot of people out of work, which could lead to them being out of homes.
