and before you hit back let me explain

yes its sr20 vs rb20.

im getting a mint shell soon and i need to figure out what engine ide like.

my power goals arent extream 300hp would be dandy over time, and i know the sr is easier with aftermarket than the rb. im not a huge 4 banger fan, and the rb sound is intoxicating.

so my question is why is the sr better for drifting than the rb? i plan to dd this car and also drift it around in wet weather and track days. what are the pros and cons of each motor when sliding around?

if i went rb ide keep it modest with a simple upgraded turbo and that rb friendly intercooler kit bigger injectors ecu stuff ectectect,

if i went sr i just see myself dumping parts in it till i cant drive it.

SOOOO HELP ME OUT NICO!

Sr is the lightest and will make great power up top. Rb25/26 will have power sooner but you will have more weight.

Sr if your plans are only 300whp.Rb if you want more and you will!If I could go back I would go LS1 and turbo that bish.

Well, if you are just goin for 300 hp then i would just go with the sr20. There's a bigger aftermarket support for those motors from what i've seen.

Yes, the SR20 is lighter and would provide better weight distribution than an inline 6. Sounds like you really want a RB20 though. So go ahead and get it.

oh thanks for that link btw, great stuff, but is there any problems drifting with rb`s? ive seen it done left and right but ive heard the sr is a better choice? any reasons? thanks for the replys guys.

oh and my budget is 2500 and its 1200 for the car and 1099 for the rb20 from a gts-t. so my power goal is small till i get suspension work done.

can someone direct me in the direction of a great rb supporter?

Your gonna need more than $2500 to do any swap. You gotta look at things you will need to prep the motor set. Seals, gaskets, fluids, bigger fuel pump, filters, filters, spark plugs, exhaust, maby a clutch and the list go's on unless you want a half a$$ed motor swap that's guaranteed to be just that if your lucky. I'm sorry for the harsh reality check. You will spend alot more time and money fixing things that should of been token care of in the first place. Always plan ahead for things to be harder/more expensive than you think. I just don't want someone to be disappointed and I refuse to say I told you so.

Save some more money I guarantee you won't regret it!

he only said that he'd be buying the motorset for 1099. his entire budget is 2500, and that had to include the shell and motorset. he still won't get it running for that amount of money, though.

okay so now that im home i can clarify.

i have 2500 to get the car and motor and ill be buying all the parts needed to get it running with no problem. i have friend to do all the labor with me and get it running before a tune and all that jazz.

ive decided to go with the rb i was out in russ weeds rb coupe with 12 pound at 300hp, and it was balls out. 35mpg aswell the thing was nuts.

so ill be getting the shell and motor soon and ill start up a build thread im sure of it. but i plan to keep the motor pretty stock until the suspension gets attention.

nope, 50 bucks for a driveshaft and 100 for the xmember, stock mounts. we made a custom harness ourself using the ka and rb harnesses

An old of mine offered me an S15 blacktop with a 6 spd attached to a s13 hatch for $1,000. All it had wrong was a burnt out cam and he got frustrated. Biggest regret of my car life was not buying that instead of my rb... Could have been pushing well over 500hp and Mega awsome built block with the money I spent.

Also, refer to my sig for more details...

i picked up a full rb20 swap from j hot here in dfw for 1100. even came with a z32TT fuel pump.

then another 600 on top of that for water pump, timing belt, tensioner, idler, idler pulley, oil pan, thermostat, front mount, and a radiator.

then another 300 for mckinney mounts.

would i do it differently nope.

the motor im looking at it s gts-t rb20 with the harness, turbo, starter, cam angle sensor, ecu, fuel system, power steering pump, clutch and flywheel, the alternator, and ignitor, along with all the other parts they always come with like intake mini and exhaust mani.

so its a damn good deal. but i just have to find another car becuase the one i want is sold. so ill prolly just learn to slide in a ka/ca and blow that up before getting an rb. but this has been super informational.
