Hello!

My name is Robert and I am an Entertainment Reporter and Photographer in Columbus, Georgia. I own a 1965 Chevrolet C10 that I am currently making a daily driver out of (it's a long process) and I own a 1993 Nissan 240SX Convertible that I absolutely love.

The car has some problems, but nothing I can't lovingly overlook. It has the apparently common won't shift transmission problem, but that maybe fixed - thanks to this forum. It also doesn't have a back window. Hail put out the old one years ago and the previous owner just did something with a shower curtain back there, which I have improved upon some. I am going to try to do the heavy vinyl, velcro, and hot glue from Wal-Mart fix that I read about on here. It also has a pretty badly cracked front windshield, but hopefully by next week I will have that replaced.

Except for an aftermarket radio, it's all stock. I really do love the car.

How 'bout some pictures...

Welcome to the forum! Nice color...rare too. In 1993 they only made 216 red pearl (maroon) verts, of which 16 were cali emissions.

Welcome!

Glad to see you've made yourself at home and taken the initiative to figure out a few things!

The best solution (in my opinion) to the auto-no-shift problem, is to swap it out for a 5-speed.

Nice to see another Southern vert out and about. I'm your neighbor in SC. There are a few verts up here that people are doing well with. Mine seems to be a never ending project. :-) At any rate, welcome to Nico!

Love the color, of course. Like the tires too, remind me of my old Falkens.

Beat me to it. ALL automatics have a "won't shift" problem...

Thanks for all the welcomes! Yeah... I would actually love to swap it out for a five-speed... maybe someday.

Oh - and yeah - the shower curtain was certainly a great addition - ha, ha!

I really like that color, too. I never knew it was rare. I have never actually seen another 'vert around Columbus, although I do see a few coupes, and 1995 + 240s.

I've been a bit preoccupied with the car the last couple of days. I just had a new windshield put it, as the old one was cracked from top to bottom, but on my way to the shop all the brakes locked up on the car. It just started dragging and when I would take my foot off the gas just try to come to a stop... well, I pulled over and all my brakes were smoking. And the brake pedal was so stiff that I couldn't press it down at all. The car wouldn't budge. But after about 30-minutes of letting it sit, they were free again. I did some research afterwards on here, and apparently it is the booster sticking? Oh, well, more fun!

Booster change is NOT fun with the dash in the car.

I don't know how old or in shape you are, but if you don't have a healthy back, you might want some help. Getting the booster disconnected from the firewall involves some contortionist moves plus some nimble fingers and small tools. DON'T lose the cotter pin for the brake pedal pin!

Yeah... that's what I was afraid of. I actually just made another post to see if anyone could confirm it was the booster going bad, as the other thread I read seemed inconclusive...

Ha! So you got a shower curtain job, too?!

OK, guys... so for someone who is pretty new to 240s, got any cool tips or tricks for the car? Maybe something on the caliber of unplugging the revolution sensor to get it to shift right, or... anything!!

I saw that the automatic transmission thread was bumped. Hopefully you saw it. If not, it's stickied in the FAQ.
