Okay, here's a really dumb question re: ABS.

Shame on me, but I thought our '96 Max had ABS, but there's no ABS light up on the display. So what kind of braking system DOES the car have?

Thx!

Sounds like just a standard braking system (non ABS).

Look under your hood in front of the and look down behind the intake piping. If the car has ABS you should see the ABS manifold with the piston for pulsating the brakes.

If you pull the wheel you should also be able to see the ABS sensors on the hub and an extra wire leading to them.

What trip level is your '96? Mine is a GXE and has no ABS, but if you have an SE or GLE the odds are much higher that you'd have ABS.

A better way to tell is to take the car to a secluded area where there is no traffic and plenty of road, get up to about 35 mph or so and nail the brakes as hard as you can. You'll know if you have them or not.

Hey MaxKlinger! My Max has right at 85K -- still a baby I guess. It's a GXE, so probably not ABS.

Thx!
