 My power stering pump is whinning I spoke with my friendly neighborhood Infiniti dealer and he said that it may just need flushing I checked the fluid level and it's fine my question is Can this task be performed by an average coors light mechanic(me) or is this a job best left to the shade tree mechanics or better. Are there any special tools needed for this task:help

Very easy....buy a turkey bastor and suck out the PS tank. Fill back up with Mobil 1 ATF. I would repeat at least 6 times....be sure to drive between each change.

I would say while this is an extraction, it is probably not as good as a flush since the heavy scontaminants will be at the bottom of the pump body, thus still wearing the pump when the new ATF is added.

I think 911/Q45 had a good suggestion in a previous post about loosening a bottom fitting to better drain the pump body.

Just a thought, not gospel.

I think a DIY (no flush) is treating the symptoms, whereas a flush is a cure.
