When it is cold outside, the car starts then it drops RPM's around 500rpms for about 5 seconds then gets back to normal . I think it can be all kinds of things so maybe someone has already had this problem. And maybe I can skip my whole dianogistics process. Any takers?

There are 3 idle control valves on the CA. 2 on the side of the plenum that control the regular idle (short fat one) and one that controls the fast idle for the A/C (long skinny one). The last valve is located under the TB and has a hose that comes around and connects to the plenum right behind the TB on the head side of the plenum. This valve is responsible for the fast idle when the motor is cold. It's quite failure prone and often sticks open/shut/catches briefly.

This valve is PROBABLY the cause of your problem, though I cant promise that.

Mine does the same thing........everyone says it's normal on the ca.....but something causes it.......I doubt Nissan sold them with this prob.If you figure it out......let me know

I get fast idle on mine. Crank it cold, it jumps up to 1200 rpms or so, then drops down to 300-500 within a couple of seconds, sometimes stalls. When I re-crank it, it fast idles perfect ....no prob. it's routine.......always perfect on the second crank.

Sean (NeedCAforS13) used to work at Nissan and he replaced ALL of his idle control valves (He had working A/C) and never had any cold start/idle problems after doing so.

He also lives in Florida though...

my stock ca8de had cold idle issues actually. usualy idled really high though. like 1200 for 2-5second before it would calm down, almost anytime i hit the gas. Never caused a problem, jsut figured it was an older cars way to deal with cold.
