Why did you chose to buy an altima? Price? Features? Looks? Power?

I bought mine after shopping for Camry's. This is back in 99, I had my eye set on a white 99 Camry CE 5spd. It was nice excpet I wasn't a fan of the brown interior on a white car. I wanted gray. The payments that could have been were silly. Each time I talked to the salesman the numbers changed and not in my favor and I even worked at the dealer. I gave up after a while.Down the street at the Nissan franchise and used car part of the dealer I worked at were some altimas. Never thought about getting an Altima before. I test drove a few of them and settled on a white GXE-LE 97. I went through the bank, got the check and was ready to buy. What sold me was that the car had the more features than the Camry CE and had more power. What really sold me was the price...about $5k cheaper. Damn sold!!!The day I went to pick the car up the dealer messed up and put the car on a trailer to go to auction. I freaked out!! They told the guy driving the truck to take the car off the trailer so they could sell it. As he was unchaining it from the trailer another chain from above slipped off and landed on the hood of the car ruining the hood. Needless to say I was pissed and said "screw it, let it go to auction."Finally I walked the lot looking at other used altimas. There was a green one on the lot right in my price range. It was that green that turns purple in the sunlight. Neat I thought! I drove it for a while and talked to some tech buddies that had worked on the car. They told me that one was very clean and very well kept...needed nothing. I bought and took it home 2 days later. 4 problem-free years later we are still together.

Got to say I am glad I didn't buy the Camry and glad I ran into the green alti. I'd have to say that features vs. price is what sold me.

How'd you buy yours? What was the biggest factor when buying your Altima?

I bought my Altima because there appeared to be an Epiphany after my wife and I test-drove the car.

My wife’s S-10 broke down the Sunday before MLK Day. Since the dealerships in Indiana are not open on Sundays we went on Monday to test-drive all kinds of cars. We went to a Dodge/ Chrysler dealership and test drive a Sebring. It was ok, but nothing really stood out about that car. We went to a Mitsubishi dealership and they played nothing but games with my wife and I. I use to wonder why the Mitsu commercials were always so pathetic and pleaded with you to test-drive their cars. After my two dealings with Family Mitsubishi, I now know why. After we argued (I honestly think they were threatened by us wanting to test drive the Altima) our way out of the dealership we drove one block down the street to look at a Nissan Altima. We test drove the car and my wife immediately fell in love with the car. This was our first new car we had purchased. It had ample power (2.5S), good looks, and a great price. The sales rep. at the dealership was one of the nicest people I have ever done business with. She is a class act. We drove away with our new car that day.

I would say the reason why we bought our new car was price, good looks and performance.

well actually, my first car, the 94 gxe altima was givin to me by my parents. I really wanted a mustang, but my mom decided she would buy herselfa new car, and I would get this one. As soon as I found out that would be my official first car, I joined altimas.net and began to serach for things that I could do to make it faster and look nicer. I eventually got intake/exhaust and some wheels and suspension mods. Then I got bit by the 240 bug and sold it. I really wish I hadn't. It was the most reliable car our family has ever owned. I was gonna order a 75 nx wet shot, but i found my now owned 240 like th day before the sale on the nitrous on swaw's website started.

i bought mine because i loved the way it handeled for such a large (but not too heavy) car. I also liked the power, and had an almost sporty yet 'clean and nice' look and feel to it. I sold my 89 24o in december of o1, and bought my o2 altima the same month, ive now had her for exactly 2 years. One thing that turns out amazing that i didnt intentionally buy the car for was its reliability and great gas mileage, everyday i find more stuff i love about the car. Besides, when i get the itch for RWD, one of my best friends owns one of hte cleanest 93 24o's around ;)

I bought mine because it was a Nissan that I could afford and the fiance wouldn't mind driving. It replaced a 1989 Civic and is much more enjoyable to drive...

when i bought mine, i just wanted an import because they were a lot more reliable than the GMs I previously owned. I came across the altima with 62K on it, practically mint, and just needed the distributor timing adjusted for a good price. I had absolutely no intention of modding it for power. Now however, Im almost done with the basic bolt ons

I did not vote because it was all those reasons.

I had narrowed it down to the Maxima or a Jeep Liberty. We went to some Nissan dealerships and drove a 02 6-speed Maxima and a 02 5-speed Altima. Both were Awesome. Torque steer out the booty.

Then I fell in love with the body lines on the Altima and the dual exhaust is pimp.

you aint joking about the TS on that car. I test drove a 3.5 5spd and I asked the salesman if I can drive it the way it should be driven, and he said just take it to the highway. So I did, floored it getting on the onramp, and the TS was sick. I had to get used to it on that test drive. the V6 accord coupe didnt even come close

Yeah when I was on the test drive the dealer didn't even go with me.There was a Mustang 5.0 beside me that reved at a Corvette.I droped the gas and roasted the front tires like crazy. The guy driving the Mustang looked so confused.

hehmmm. stanza... Well i voted for price. It was about the only car that i could find at the time that looked and ran good for $1500. Nissan quality goes to second, because my brother had a maxima of similar year and i really liked it so it probably helped me make the decision, thankfully. The other car i was looking at was a classic mullet mobile camaro. That decision quiet possibly saved me from turning into a Joe Dirt, my friends at the time didn't like the foreign/"communist car" stanza.

today I met a kid who said these exact words...."I hate imports, and I have domestic car owners who put all that import rice s*** on their car" That isnt the funny part....this is....He drives a older 4X4 blazer, mudder wheels and tires for off roading, a set of spot lights on the roof, front grill guard, lift kit, and a set of carbon fiber altezza tails. He was making fun of his own damn self

I was offered a brand new 03 3.5SE 5spd for $19K after tax and title with only 23 miles on it. it had hale damage to the trunk lid and hood. $300 later that could of been taken cared of, but I just couldnt afford the car payments

man that was a good deal, i think they were probably trying to get rid of it because of the hail damage. All the 6cyls on the lots now are easily 25k or higher, usually more like 25-28k

a guy that i work with traded in his black '02 5spd v6 for a '04 white automatic. His payments are 60 bucks more a month, but he's glad he has 35,000 less miles. Personally, I liked the '02 better because of the 5spd and black leather interior.

whenever i go to a car lot and they see me pull in with my altima, they think I actually have money to spend. THe people at the Lexus dealership used to call me up to tell me what new cars they have on the lot for me to come look at

i had problems switching from day to day driving my AT altima and my 5spd 240. when i had both cars, if i drove the 240 earlier in the day, instinct would tell me to push in a clutch pedal when i got in my altima, but there wasnt one. and even now, 8 months later, i still keep my hand on the AT shifter like when i would drive a 5 spd

no rob, his 5spd had 35k on it, and he read some stupid crap on altimas.net about guys trading in their '02s for '04s and getting around the same monthly payment. All the local dealer had was automatics. He's got heated seats now though. I'm taking it to prom, so i'm still mad about him trading it in for an auto.

well to me the 35k less miles and heated seats arent worth 6o extra a month
