But, I wanted to know the MAJOR differences between a VQ30, and VQ35
because i currently am in possession of a VQ30det out of a Cedric (wrecked)
and I plan to swap it into a s14/s13 shell, which ever is the best bang for my buck.

the reason i want to know the differences between the motors is because, i have seen many a swap threads on vq35's into s-chassis but hardly any vq30's. I figure if i could find the motor mounts and everything for a vq35, i should be on my way. No?

also, the VQ has lost compression, either that, or honestly, Idk It's not turning over or anything. if i'm lucky i get a ticking sound but i decide not to bother with it until i get the s-chassis.
so my plans are;
-remove Vq from cedric
-tear down and replace seals/gaskets, etc etc.
-check if anything else needs be replaced.
-get motor mounts
- get wiring harness
-get custom exhaust. ( will a vq35 exhaust work? )
-and upgrade the turbo. or uninstall it.

Basically this is my first build and i'm jumping head first into it as well. I know i shall be difficult, but I am determined not to quit.

and don't worry I'll have help, My elder brother knows a fair amount about 240's considering he's owned about 7

Bless your soul. Plz make a build thread in 240 Gen. I'm a few months away from buying a VQ30DET as well for an S13 swap.

-VQ35 mounts will not work. xxtokesxx has a swap in progress now and his buddy has a VQ35 swap in progress as well. They confirmed that the mount points for the VQ30DET are a tab bit different, but not by much though.

-If this is a LHD USDM S-Chassis, the turbo exhaust manifolds will not clear the steering linkage. Best solution I've seen so far is a combined header setup placing the turbo in front of the motor.

-Will VQ35 exhaust work? It'll take so much modifying, you might as well do a full custom catback. Gonna have to do custom downpipe and manifolds anyways.

-For maintanance, alot of Maxima stuff is supposed to fit. Like water pump, tps, and more. Maxima.org is probably the best place for info since VQ30DET.com seems to have died... :frown:

Plz stick with this. I don't think there is a singe complete/running LHD VQ30DET swapped S-chassis in the world, which is a shame, becuase it seems like the absolute most perfect motor for a swap IMO.

What transmission you going with?

Meaning this is gonna be a RHD car? Oh. In that case , just copy what Siluty did, I guess...

VQ20/VQ30/VQ35 block mounts points are all the same the actual adapter maybe different. Our kit work with all but the VQ35HR and newer AND THERE MOUNTING POINTS ARE THE SAME, but starter location on the drive side is the problem....

Sounds like it! Call him up! Maybe you to can help them bring a VQ30DET specific kit to the market!

I'm telling you... I think this motor is about to catch on big time.

VQ30DET with VQ35 trans (350z/G35 6spd) will go in with our kit, but the turbo and manifold will not fit as R-L bank exhaust connector goes behind the engine and left manifold with turbo hits the frame, so turbo kit must be all redone to fit..
