I've heard people talk about the SR20DET engine 9 million times on here. So what gives? What kind of of speed are we talking about switching to this motor? I fully expect to have to replace my motor within the next year or so. I know rebuilding my stock motor in my 95 240 will be 2 or 3 grand. How much to get a SR20DET + clutch in there? WIll I need a new transmission too?

2 or 3 grand??? that is an awful lot for a rebuild... are you going to pay someone to do it?

and yes you will need a different transmission

you've seen it mentioned 9 billion times...so im sure at some point someone has explained what it is. do a search.

PS - dont pay 2-3 grand to rebuild your motor, you're getting ripped off.

I really didn't search & was a little inebriated when I wrote that. The rebuild cost was just a guess. I figured since everything else on this car is way overpriced, that would be too. Thanks for the input!

no u dont need a new transmission. sr's come with the transmission, u can get a complete front clip for 2500, install is about a g.do search on this, and read every single post in the sr forum 5 times.
