ok so today i started my rb20, i was so excited to hear it run but i got a couple of concerns and questions

first: the red ecu light stays on even when i take the key out. is it supposed to do that?

second: the idle goes up and down from 800-2000. is that just because i started it up with no intercoller piping? or something else?

third: its running rich as hell and theres alot of black smoke, what can that be from

my ecu plug wiring is

RB 6 wire plug WHITE W/ BLACK LINE - KA 8 wire grey plug RED RB 6 wire plug BLACK W/ RED LINE - KA 8 wire grey plug BLACKW/RED LINERB 6 wire plug WHITE W/PURPLE - KA 6 wire brown plug BROWNRB ecu BLACK W/PINK - KA 6 wire brown plug BLACK W/PINK

thanks

first: yes, I am pretty sure it is normal for the red light to stay on

second: you are bypassing all the intercooler piping.. how is the maf hooked up? is it secured on the intake and not letting any air get by? My guess is you have a vacuum leak somewhere.

third: is your o2 sensor hooked up?

1.are you sure? form what ive read if that light is always on it drains the bettery?

2.i have hooked up my intercooler piping now so its idiling smoothly, but its idling around 1700, is that because i havent let the car warm up cause ive only ran it 20 seconds max.

3.it is hooked up but the only thing im worried is that when i extended the wires i might have hooked the two light brown wires up backwards, cause i didnt lable them befrore i cut them. do u think if those are hooked up backwards that could be y its so rich?
