the thing runs excellent with no probs.the fun thing about it is my nice t28bb turbo spools at like 2k rpms but i dont feel the boost until at least 5k... i know the timing is off but i have heard so many different steps to timing it and idle screw adjustment.so if anyone on here can go step by step to tell me how to do this.unplug the tps only and then time it correct? but then the dam things idles at 1500 rpms and u cant time at that speed....so someone start at step one and enlighten me....

aac unplugged? not sure about that. with the car at operating temperature, unless the car is idling way off you can just adjust the screw to specs. I have heard of unplugging the MAF while doing this, but I have always ended up with the same results. Doing this though does not adjust timing only idle speed. To adjust timing you need a timing light, and you adjust the distributer accordingly. I played with mine the other day, someone had retarded the timing about 10deg. I advanced it to about 18d. and it runs much better.

Im guessing its similar to the SR timing/idle mode adjustments. You just warm it up, hold the RPMS at 2k for 2 min, let the car idle down, then turn it off. Unplug the TPS, restart it and adjust the idle FIRST, because this will have an effect on timing. Then adjust your timing. You then rev it 2-3k 3 times, turn the car off, plug the TPS back in, start it up, then I always rev it 2-3k 3 times once again to just make sure the computer sets it as the base timing.

schug13 must be talking about a different engine.

first off, get an FSM. the FSM shows you how to adjust your base idle and timing.

ADB12wagon has the right instructions for adjusting your TPS. After the TPS is set, then adjust your idle just like you said: disconnect the AAC harness (green harness plug) and adjust the back of the IAA unit till you have 850+-50rpm. then replug the AAC harness.

the AAC jumps your idle a lot, so it must be disconnected when checking your base idle.

sounds like your tps isnt adjusted. My wires broke off mine and was causing a 1500rpm idle, when i reconnected them its below 1000 now.

theres a little switch inside the tps that tells your car to idle or that you have throttle engaged. thats what the two wire connector on the front of the tps is. the other 3 wire connector is for the position itself.

anyhoo, try goofin with the tps , see if it comes down, if not you may have a break in one of the wires

i timed my car with tps unplugged, then checked it with plugged in, got the same reading. Doesnt matter at all if its unplugged IMO.

good luck
