I have a T70 from ssAutochrom link below. NOw the question is how do i fix this mistake.. I know i can drop in Garrett Internals And i would love to do that.. BUT!!!Where do i find the internals to drop in? And what size wheel should i use? They say it compairs to a T61 Garrett ? Check out the pics and see what you guys can come up with.. But I would like to keep this turbo housing because they are brand new just swap the bearings, wheels, and stuff out pretty much rebuild a ****ty turbo into a good one... thanks

Thants the link to the turbo, I already bought it from a kid that lived close to me.. So see what you guys can come up with... I tried checkign Garretts site but i dont know what to look for...

after getting a rebuild done you probably should have just bought it new from garret. you wont be able to rebuild yourself unless your the balancing machine that turbo rebuilders have

That's only true if you do not buy balanced wheels. Balancing the whole assembly is great and will give you quicker spool and longer life, but it is expensive and not often done. Almost all turbos have balanced wheels though, but if you ask WDracing, he doesn't even worry that much about it. The next step will be to find out if you will be able to use Garrett components in a clone. If they modified the design in any way, you may have a problem. And finally I ask, why a T70? It is way to big for normal use on a KA. It might work well with dedicated drag racing, though.

Its actualy a T61 so they say, I have tried and tried to get ahold of Ssautochrom to find out what exactly this turbo is.. because it says it compaires to the T61 Garrett ? lol So i dont know.. But the ka 24de its going on has the following...

Crower Rods,Wiseco pistons,Stainless valves, valve springs.Titanium Retainers, 3angle valve jobport but havent polished.and maybe knife crank...

Also here are the specs from this SSautocrap turbo i got

SHAFT & WHEEL TRIM 64.5mm

COMPRESSOR WHEEL SUPER 70 60.5mm

( similar to Garrett T61 for comparison purposes )

TURBINE HOUSING A/R .84

COMPRESSOR HOUSING A/R RATIO .70

the turbo size all depends what you want

a non-ballbearing turbo like the one we are talkign about may not reallykick in til at 4k but when it does it will make very good power. when you are drivign hard you are always in the higher rpms anyway. lag is overrated. my turbo kicks in at about 3700 and you can definitly feel it all of sudden take off and it jsut doesnt stop pulling

uvamosk, search around. u might end up thread jacking. a good turbo is up to you and what u want

I'm not sure I understand, you bought it for the CHRA? I would try running it. But then again you have pretty pricey internals.

Dude, a T70 is a T70...it either is or isn't. A T61 is NOT a T70. Listening to anything that comes from SSA is just like buying every one of their products.

Just use that POS until if falls apart then buy a new one.

I agree, from what I am reading, the parts are inferior, shaft sizes are different, etc. They did what they could to cut prices, by changing the design. I would say it's yours unless you can resell it.

That was my thought use the POS till it falls apart then buy a new one... but the worries i have are, the comp blades will break off and flay throught the FMIC and go into the engine and there goes a 4,000$ engine down the drain with all the money I spent on it too... I just want to know if I could Shove Garrett internals into it... I might try to sell it for 300$ if i can and cut my losses.. I dont know... . Its making me question about this Waste Gate also Its a Tial knock off 38mm..

As for what im going to use this build up for... I want a Street Sweeper... Mostly want something that demands respect... So thats why im shooting for 400whp to 450whp more if i can.. I want something doesnt take forever to spool but at the same time doesnt run out of breath up top.. Because the Ka24de only has a 7k redline so I need it to be kicking in by then..

el... oh el. Seriously? $300 for the turbo, which is WAY too big to be used on a street-driven car without nitrous or antilag setup, $300 for blades, which isn't really the issue. That's $600 for some bastardized turbo... and blade quality doesn't matter when the crummy housing doesn't have the clearance needed, and the blades crash into it at 100,000rpm. And.. the seals tend to blow on those turbos.

Now, had you read and done research, you'd see that anything past a t3/4e is unnecessary to all but a handful (you excluded) of 240sx owners. So.. your $600 cobbled together, way-too-big-off-the-efficiency-map turbo versus a $600 Precision Turbo SC50/SC61 for perfect power delivery and some of the highest quality parts. -Jeff

Also, Jeff thank you for the info, though it read harsh to me ... I do feel the same way your thoughts read.. I Should have just spent the money on a real setup instead of building a 3500$ engine and throwing on a 300$ turbo system I guess lesson Learned... Life 100000 me -30 lol

Ball bearing is still a little overpriced for my money. Plus, they are more delicate. I would just go with a T3/T4 from the sponsor. Western Turbo sells a T3/T04b for 399. Or you could do what everyone else here does and go T3/T04e

What about T60-1 with stage 3 and a .63 a/r ???

Also HOw much WHP you got in your 240sx?

Im thinking about going with the T60-1 stated above and just live with the 4k LAG

I have approximately 0WHP, since I need to rebuild my engine. A T60 would be feirce, I know they have t3/T60 hybrids that might get you the best spool for what you may be looking for. What kind of HP are you looking to make?
