My 92 vert has a trans problem and it happened so suddenly at a stop light that I cannot believe it is a huge failure. The car was idling at a stop light and when the light changed the car would not move. This was a 1-owner dealer maintained car and it runs great.Does anyone know how much a trans rebuild costs on these?Thinking of just selling the car and looking for a good deal on a 350Z roadster. I drove one yesterday and it was really sweet. What do you guys think?[IMG][/IMG]

I think you can get a good running used auto transmission for a 240sx for like $200 or less.

I'd swap in a new transmission and keep her going.

If you want to spice things up a bit, you could do a 5 speed conversion for a bit more than $500.

Yea, or sell it for a killer price to me

Auto trannies are cheap due to people not wanting them in favor of the 5 spd.

Shouldn't be too bad to get her back going.

Rebuilding is going to run you a few hundred at the least. I'm sure they'll have some parts costs, but mostly it's labor. Could be 4 to 6 hours? At $75+ per hour.. that all adds up really fast.

The last time I had an auto trans rebuilt (it was for my '90 Tempo when I used to own it), it cost about a grand.

You'd be best to slap a used trans in the car and let it roll like that.

if your going to sell, im much closer lol but srsly Verts are rad, and are only going to get harder to find as time goes on so I say swap out that nasty pile of metal shavings and get a new auto or manual transmission in there. then enjoy the fruits! Otherwise my best friends 325IX is starting to kick teh bucket and I am trying to get him into a vert.

what does it do when you put it into gear? nothing? could just be the torque converter. in which case would be much easier fix than a transmission rebuild, but still need to drop it.

We were driving down the road, no problem. stopped at a light and went to go when the light changed and nothing. Once it cooled down a bit I restarted it and it moved for 5 to 10 seconds and then nothing again. It did that a few times and now it won't even do that.I did have a mechanic check the line pressure and there is none.Sounds like a blown seal not letting fluid pressure build up to move the car? I'm thinking about selling it and getting a 350z roadster. I was thinking $2500 as is or $3500 fixed? It was a one owner car until I bought it. A guy I work with mother bought it new. [IMG][IMG]

if you are going to sell it here, I would say leave it be and let the purchaser fix it. we have plenty of guys locally from PA to VA who can do the wrenching themselves and would prob really enjoy the project. whats the mileage on this bad boy btw?

does it feel like its going into gear at all? does it bring the rpms down when you shift from park to R or D?
