you will have to have the car realigned and technically it wont be in spec, but its not SO far off...

My plan is to do the rears first, shocks and springs, and see what she looks like. The rear is what looks funny to me...with 18" wheels...

I just did the upper links, and noticed some "feathering" in the inside of the drivers side tire...Looks like a shock problem, the Passenger side was perfect...The upper link on the passenger side was a ***** to get in while the driver's side just fell into place.

I'm looking for a shop to press in my Tension Rod bushings...

Ok - so I've been driving on mine for about nearly 400 miles (after de-activating - thank you Jay!!!). Alignment shop told me that they barely got them into spec - too ignorant to know what exactly the ramifications are.

Anyhow - DOES NOT have "BMW like" ride. I've ridden in late model BMWs and they are much more compliant. My car rides like, well, a lowered car. Not as bad as some of those slammed cars that bouce all over the place but definitely not a luxury/sport ride. It's not bad until you hit significant dips (which there are plenty here in LA). Basically the CA Custom springs really change the character of the ride.

Also my front end it a bit too low (zero fender gap) while the back end sits a good inch higher. Back end is actually perfect height while front is too low for my taste. Makes my Q appear as if it's nose diving.

On the plus side, I'm getting significantly better MPG (never got better than 16MPG, usually 15MPG communting and now it's looking more like 18-19MPG.

tkd_q45,

Glad you finally got you Q de-activated. I notice the same heght diferential on my 94 Q45a with Calif Custom also. I have no wheel gap in the front and about 1 inch in the rear. The ride is rough only when you hit dips but overall the ride for me is tollerable. My camber is complete off. I have plans to purchase the adjustible upper links and tension rods in a few weeks to correct the situation. I have already destroyed a less than 10K set of tires in teh last 4 months on the new springs.

Glad to hear you got the Conversion done Tom..Cudos to you and Jay!! Did you have fun doing it? Zero fender clearance in front?? Sounds funny. The tokicos mounted correctly? Did you adj them at all??

I've been riding on my Cali's for say about 3 1/2 k now maybe allot more I can't remember, but I'm completely used to them now. A bit more harsh when going from the "active", but still much better then other lowering springs to be sure. No maint. issues at all and no ill effects except knowing my front end won't fit over the curb anymore. Did you get the SPL Subframe spacers and collars as well? I'd get those, then do both at the same time. I can hit upwards of 100 mph around some nasty curves here and not even hear any cringes or pops in my suspension. Nice and tight!

We did have fun. Jay is a pleasure to work & hang out with. I have to admit he the complicated stuff, I just turned the wrenches/added a helping hand.

I'm sure that everthing we did was correct. I think it may just be the luck of the draw. Ride over small irregularities is just fine. It's really some of the larger dips in the road that bother me. The ride over such "obstacles" just does not feel good - it's not severe perse, just unbecoming of a G50.

My suspension has softened up over the miles - when first installed I was bouncing over any irregularity in the road. I'm hoping that maybe at least my rear will settle down a bit.

What's a good price for the SPL upper links? Does one also need to have the adjustable tension rods w/the adjustable upper links? Won't the adjustable tension rods add harshness to the ride?

What exactly is the benefit of the subframe spacers?

On other plus I forgot to mention is that my car feels like it has much more power. I'm definitely quicker off the line, downshifts happen much more quickly. It's hard to refrain from nailing the throttle. I'm sure it must be the same feeling as when others have switch to the NICO ECU.
