Im near positive at one point or another came with a CA, and im pretty sure it was a DE, the s12 came with the ca18e(t)...or the VG but thats another story...I *think* it was89/90 CA18DET91-96 redtop97 98 black top...But again not a big JDM guy, Ive even been know to spell silvia wrong

Edit from a sticky in the SR forum

S13 red tops: 91-94S13 black tops: Late 94-98S14 notch tops: 95-98S15 notch tops: 99-01

judging from the lack of a pre- 91 im gonna say CA18det for those two years

In Japan, all the 89-90 S chassis cars had either the CA18DE or CA18DET. In 91, the S chassis got the SR engines.

The later model SRs were/are called "notchtops" to differentiate them from the earier SRs. These had a differently shaped valve cover to accomodate VVT technology. The valve cover slopes down sharply at the back end of the engine, thus the term "notch."

The 89 - 90 S13 had the CA18DE and the CA18DET, then moved on to the SR

Only the S12 200SXs had the CA18E and CA18ET. Once Nissan brought in the S13, they saved all the single-cam goodness for the torque-whores of the US of A.

Ive only really looked at Toyota's VVT system does Nissan put the controller for the cam timing at the toward the back of the motor were the hump is in the Valve cover??? Toyota just has hydraulically adjustable cam sprockets..

Brad were you able to get sunday off? I was hoping some one else would be going with me, I tryed to get Los to take the 3000gt but he had to work and didnt seem all that interested anyways. Oh well I guess Ill be racing by my self since for some reason no one else seem to be into $40 track time...

LOL, yeah, it sucks, but whenever I try to get some time off, my supervisor gives me this "find coverage and you're home free" crap. Unfortunately, that's the trade off for working "per diem." I start at more per hour than the part- or full-timers, but I don't get benefits like PTO or even days off. I already put the paperwork in for September, though.

Get some pics and let me know how the event goes though!

EDIT: LOL, that sounds like Los. He babies that car too much to track it. He was the same way with his RX-7. Rest assured, though, that once I get back in town, you won't be the only one going. Also, do you have your coils installed yet?
